Just a question:

why is it "goodbye_mr_bond" and not "goodbye mr ond"

I don't understand your question. Who is "mr ond"? OH! You mean the "_" underscore?

I've used this callname for a while, when most chats and sites didn't accept spaces between. Just habit I guess.

While we're on the subject, there's a question I've always wanted to ask you. What are we supposed to call you when speaking to you politely? Mr. bond? Mr. mr_bond? goodbye-san? Mr. goodbye_mr_bond?

Why did I choose Dr. Amazing? It's my real name (almost).

It's also the name I've used on other forums and strangely enough, no one else seems to be using it.

...not that I'm interesting in THAT sort of thing...

Yeah, I didn't realize that it's not the most convenient of handles until it was too late... But just bond or mr bond is fine, even though technically the phrase should associate me more with the bad guy than 007. FearlessLeader2 uses 'Blofeld' sometimes (the actor who played the villain) but I think that's a bit obscure.

Incidentally, I've resisted the urge once or twice to just call you 'Loaf' because it seems a bit unflattering by itself.

And here's a question I've always wanted to ask: Stormerne, how do you pronounce your name? I lazily tend to read it as Stormene (ie: storm-EEN) but phonetically it seems that it should be 'STORM-urn.' The latter doesn't seem to exactly slide off the tongue, no offense.

Hey Mr Bond, is Octopussy ok?...lol

Listen, strange women lying around in ponds, distributing swords is no basis for a system government.

Blofeld was the character; the actor was Donald Pleasance, who also played Satan in "The Greatest Story Ever Told".
But I will not call you Satan.
Rather, the full name of your villain:
ERNST STAVRO BLOFELD, HEAD OF S.P.E.C.T.R.E

P.S: Anyone here know who Blofeld was named after? (Hint: He is British, and is not an actor)

Duh. Yes, what Simon said. <Tee hee>

And Octopussy sounds a bit optimistic these days... Besides, I'd hate for people to 'forget' the octo part.

I hope no offense was taken by my shortening of your handle, Blofeld. It just seemed logical to me...

'Sides, I'm fulla useless information, movie quotes, and stuff like that... (I'm fulla something...)

Yeah, most people around here just call me 'Loaf'. I don't really mind, but I also don't really understand it. In an English compound noun, it's the last part, not the first part, that is the key word. Therefore a 'loaf warden' would not be a kind of loaf, it would be a kind of warden (that is, a warden of loaves). Still, 'Loaf' is faster to type than 'Warden', so I suspect that's why people focus on it.

Good question about stormerne's name. In my mind, I used to pronounce it storm-urn, but once I learned of its origins, I kind of thought it should be more like storm-airn, since that would bear more resemblance to the other Germanic languages than 'urn' would. I, too, would like to know what the true pronunciation is.

Nitro. It comes from 'nitroglycerine' - highly explosive stuff. Actually, I started using it after having read a Lucky Luke, where the story was that nitroglycerine had to be moved for the construction of a railroad. The box only said 'Nitro', thus the Daltons thought it was a box with gold heading for a city named 'Nitro'.

Has anyone here read the belgariad by david eddings? they're great books...anyway, there's a character named mandorallen, so when i was playing belgamud based on the books i chose kundorallen as very similar, and the shorter version kundor has been my handle ever since.

Let me make it clear that I did not choose the nickname Matrix because of the movie!

Why I did choose it...it just sounds nice. It looks a bit like my real name: Maarten. Schwarzenegger's callsign in Commando is Matrix. But there's no real story behind my nickname.

Anyway, I'm still a bit jealous for the nickname Nitro.

I've always thought of it as *Storm-AIR-knee*, and I think I got that from a previous posting of his explaining the name, but I'm not sure. It's not in this thread, but in an earlier one that I'm too lazy to look for (I am at work

). It will be interesting to see who is correct. Storm, you reading this...?

Yes, a very good series. Easily read.
Silk was really funny.
Ever play Legend of The Red Dragon, on bbs?
Barak?
I've also taken Riva at times playing Falcon's Eye, either Riva or Minas Tirith.

My name is EdmundSpenser...
Edmund Spenser is the greatest poet the English language has ever know (in this Knight's lowly opinion). Sir Edmund was a young man of noble descent in Queen Elizabeth's sixteenth century court. he achieved courtly advancement by undertaking the grandiloquent ambition of writing Wpic poetry. His famous work 'The Faerie Queen' is the longest poem in the English language. He was a contemporary of Will Shakespeare, though Will wrote for commoners, Ed for the Queen herself.

My name comes from the greatest villan in the FF series!
