What I don't like about the Harry Potter Series

Too much individual heroism. Take the Quinditch game for example, throwing the ball through the hoop is worth 10 points, but catching the snitch is worth 150 points and ends the game. I don’t even understand why the other players other than the Seeker even bother to play, because their performances in fact, don’t really matter. It is a one man game.
Not to mention that broomstick riding and wand waving are somewhat laughable actions.

You forgot to mention that it's a kids book for children and losers.

If you read it carefully, you will understand why. Catching the snitch is worth 150 points but it also ends the game, therefore if your other players have scored points, you could still win.

Doesn't that make the role of the team more important than the individual then? If your team is over 150 ahead, the Seeker (who ever the hell that is) is irrelevant.

Mostly though I agree with PrinceofLeigh, because I've never read them.

True, quidditch rules simply don't make sens at all. I also agree about the overall impression : it's too much centered on Harry Potter, he's never wrong, when he doesn't like someone he ends up beeing right. The other characters are too simple and their position is allways straitforward. I don't see any interest in the House competition since it's allways the good Gryffindor, all the slitheryn are bad guys (abandon this House and you'll resolve all the problems of the magical world hehe :)), all the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students don't have any personality.

This point would seem to apply equally to Superman, Batman, Star Wars and a host of other movies, comics and novels.

Which means your opinion on this subject is worth how much exactly ?

Harry's wrong all the time! Almost to the point of annoyance

My opinion on the role of the team vs individual is worthwhile. My opinion on the worth of the book is worthless.

What blackheart said

"Ending" the game doesn't mean "winning" it. So if Harry's team has 10 pts, and Malfoy's team has 200, and Harry gets the snitch, the game ends and Harry has 160 and Malfoy still beats him by 40 pts. Go Malfoy!

You know what I hate about Harry Potter? Its popular. Popular things aren't cool.

I think it's funny how some people go into it so much and actually start believing it. I have a friend who is 22 and he thinks there really is a Harry Potter college in England. It's sad.

Isn't the author of the book a billionaire now? Plenty of suckers out there. It's scary when you think people like my friend I just mentioned are voting in the elections.

Fair enough. Given that PrinceofLeigh didn't address this at all, I did have the impression you were saying it's crap without having read the series, sorry.

Anyway, the Potter series clearly isn't a masterpiece of modern literature, but even grownups can and do enjoy the books. There's no need to slag off those who read the books if you don't enjoy them (actually, doing so rather reflects on the maturity of those who do post such comments).

It makes me want to tear my body parts off with frustration, it's so damn unrealistic, and goody-goody-two-shoes.

What happens if you like something and then it becomes popular?

I don't understand why you are talking about 'loosers'.
I have read the books, I enjoyed them,I think that they are interesting. Am I a looser beacuse i have read some books ?!?! :crazyeye:

Losers are people who read the books and believe the stuff is real.

I categorically refuse to ever read a Harry Potter book or see any of the movies, because I refuse to be a robot who likes whatever the media orders him to like.
