Actually all Christians do not wear crosses around their necks. In fact I seen some pretty rough people that had crosses around their necks more than anyone in my church.

Would there be a gallows on top of church towers, and in the altar?


While the cross is quite accepted as a christian symbol, it actually is pretty sick.

If Jesus was hanged, this would probably be true, however, we probably wouldn't see gallows and hanging in the same light, and it probably would not have been used around the same time that crucifixtion was no longer used in our time.

More likely, a miniature gallows on a chain.

But the cross is a very striking symbol visually. I'm not sure a stylized gallows would have been equally popular. Maybe they'd stuck with that fish ...

Or the Chi-Rho, which was more popular.
