What is happening to the NESes?!

People not into fantasy? :wow: ... there was one last month that had many players, a map, etc ... that didn't actually start ... this proved a great interest in the fantasy genre ...

So by all means start one again :)

BTW - Conehead is starting <cross fingers> a superhero NES beginning in July

Why don't a whole bunch of mod's who can't handle updates get together and swing it every fifth update or so? it'd make things... unpredictable

prolly wouldn't work though

That would be hilarious, though... :D

Right now I think the "supply" outbalanced the "demand" for NESes....

I'd agree. There are too little players (and most of the players there are aren't on every day) for the volume of NES's we have.

well what'dya expect after making this thread?
My WW3 SC Nes is still going up, I just can't work on it during the summer.

It'll be simply and easy for me to Mod. ;) So it'll work out to it's intentional end.

Hey, having a look through the NESs, any suggestions on which to join? Which have got space and are quite simple to play?

As for players not being on every day, player time is always going to be an issue with NESs, no one can get to a computer every day of their lives, something will always come up one day, that's why I always used to end up leaving it for two days to do an update.

It's a double-edged sword - update too often, and lose the interest of those who just visit every other day or so, or update too little and lose the interest of those who visit every day. I think updating every two days is fair enough in a NES myself, being too busy to get on every day personally, and gives enough time for diplomacy, to get orders in and react to changing diplomacy, but this depends on the NES having an active thread - not just one that waits for orders and updates.

Game NESs, my personal faves, have always suffered this problem - they have little going on in the threads, and this leads to them dying quickly. Story NESs are the opposite - too much happens in a thread for me, and I find I just can't keep up (that's why I kept away from RTOR2 for so long, until I could find the guts to read it all the way through). Luckily a lot of new NESs are a mix of these, so if the mods can move fairly for those unable to get orders in every day, we should all be happy.

lol I know I've probably just stirred up a hornet's nest of how often NESs should be updated, but it's just my personal opinion.

I'm also looking into the consideration of creating a NES with enough personalisation to keep those on here every day going, while being simple enough that those on every other day or so can still come and pick it straight up. I've set forth an idea on the development thread, any ideas would be appreciated.

lol okay if the updates are one a week (I'm remembering the days of Roddy pestering me all the time to update every day, which meant most NESs lasted a few weeks lol), then I've got time to play quite a few, and screw how simple they are. Just give me time to read the rules lol.

And by quite simple to play, I suppose I mean haven't gone so far as to make it hard to join at such a late stage.

PS: Cheers for the welcome, and trying to finish my current story before posting it lol, got serious writer's block!

Das' ITNES might be nice, or Jason's NES. Silver's (SINES) NES is just opening and Im sure there are few good open spots. If you want some pre-WWI play (1900) then staznes: The Road to Armageddon might be good, although most spots are already taken. :(

Well there are some suggestions for you. Hope it helps. :)

UK, the legend :D
I'd recommend Goobers NES and the Red Alert thats open just now.

Now I understand. NESers never die they always come back :goodjob:

Most NES's update 1 a week. I've seen none that do more than that

I usually update at least twice a week. kamilian, iirc, updates almost twice a week. roddy always updates whenver he has orders, so it could be 5 times or more a week for his nes's, lol.
