Hmmm...After thinking about it, maybe I won't play my first game on Settler. The AI will sit around doing nothing, and I would have to do the same thing if I wanted the game to last long enough to experiance any of the new features.

Maybe I'll have to play my first game on Warlord then :p

Monarch with "no techs but what you researched yourself tradeable" option, and while keeping up top in the power graph, try and play purely peacefully and see what happens ;)

That's the idea! Who wants to sit around hitting the "Next Turn" button when you could be fighting with the UUs? Not just razing the one city the AI have, but a real fight!

We do have a few experts on the boards...maybe they all visited this thread at once and voted for Deity. Or, maybe a few people are lying. :mischief:

Noble is my Civ4 difficulty level, and Noble will be my first game with BTS. But I haven't played enough to be sure I'll win if the AI really is better...

I'm choosing to believe it will be better, which is why my first game will have the difficulty knocked back one level, to Warlord. I can't win every single time on the current Noble difficulty  so I'm guessing that BTS Warlords will be a challenge for me.

I forgot that new option. It’ll be interesting to see if Mansa Musa and other tech traders will be able to lead the tech race with that option on.

My initial guess, is that it will favor the financial civs with a CE and of course any Civ who gets the pyramids and runs a SE. I also think that the map will now be a lot more important, as civs that get a bad start will find it harder to play catch up. Hopefully this will lead to a greater discrepency in tech lvls between different civs. Should be interesting anyways.

Always noble, played it previously because of the bonuses the AI got. If the bonuses are removed on Prince and higher, I'll play on there.

I said noble. It's not my usual difficulty but I want to go down a level to play with all the new Espionage and such. NUMBER 100!:woohoo:

While I generally play on Monarch or Prince I'm going to try a game on Noble just to see how the new AI does on even terms.

I thought they were reducing the AI bonuses in BTS since the AI is smarter now. With the goal of keeping difficulty levels roughly the same, doesn't that mean the AI will be on even terms now at Prince or Monarch level instead of Noble?

Will an AI EVER be on even terms against a human opponent in Civilization? I don´t think you can program a computer to play Civ as well as a (smart) human, no matter the effort! It is just too complex!

Well, by even terms I meant the AI not receiving any bonuses/handicaps and same for human player. How well the AI plays determines the difficulty level.

And yes I agree that the AI can probably never play as good as an experienced human Civ player, but with the AI improvements it can get better and better. :)

I'm a noble-level player, with better AI. I'm not entirely sure what the non-modded difficulty level would be. Some people says it adds half a difficulty level, others say it adds an entire difficulty level. So, depending on who you ask, I guess I'm either either a noble and a half-level player or a prince-level player, in normal game terms.

I figure I'll start out on noble for my first game... then, depending on how well I do during that game, I'll either advance to prince or keep playing noble.

Since it's SUCH new game, seriously, everything is different, I'm going down a level to experiment with the new stuff.
