Somewhat inspired by what happened to Camikaze about what happened to him last week, but it is also inspired by what I am going through right now myself. So what is the worst moment or period in your life so far?

Surprising for it is not the time my mother died, since I am confident that I will meet her again, so I wasn't too sad when she died, just unhappy at the manner she died, since she more than like be still alive today had she got herself treated when she first found out. But right now I am going through the worst period of my life with my parasite infection. The main problem is how lonely it is since most people do not understand the problem since so few people properly experience the problems that I am going through, so you can't really describe them and get people to understand, since no matter how hard, they just can't understand what it is like to go through what I am going through.

The worst thing about my problem is that I went to a few doctors to see what is wrong with and they often said nothing was wrong with even though I kept feeling so terribly sick. Thankfully I managed to find a doctor that treats the problem and not just worries about the symptoms. That was one of the biggest frustrations that you know your sick but don't know why your sick, since currently Medical knowledge of the digestive system is basically way back in the stone ages. Only recent improvements have been made to get it moving the right direction but so many misconstructions about the problem is cause it not to be taken seriously.

I can't point to a moment in time, but the worst period of my life was a prolonged stretch in 2005. I'd been struggling with anger and depression for a while, staving them off by clinging to a certain hope. But around this time, that little hope died, and suddenly I had to face my problems. My entire worldview was falling apart. At the same time, I'd just graduated from a community college with no real idea of what I wanted to do with my life, and in the meantime I'd started working in a factory where I had to do real work and take on real responsibilities. At the same time, this girl I really adored moved away and got engaged.

In the end, it was worth it all. I learned to stand on my own feet: I was left forever free from religion, traditon, and political ideology; I figured out what I want out of life, and I found the strength of will and the heart to pursue it. Since then I've set my own course and sailed it true.

Probably the fall of 2004. I was something of a mess romantically, my group of high school friends was beginning to implode, and I had yet to meet all the cool people who would make me love University.

I once had pneumonia for a week, immediately followed by a week of fever, followed by the death of a grandfather. It wasn't that bad, though. I don't have traumatic episodes so much as I have the occasional days-long stretch of just feeling miserable.

Actually, in terms of moments, I've had a couple runs with Bronchitis in the last few years, the first (when I was 16-17 or something) probably being the worst. I would snap awake in the middle of night with my throat full of mucus, panicking, and unable to breathe. It'd be 15 awful seconds in the bathroom before I'd cough it all up.

I don't think my airway was ever actually completely closed, as if I worked really hard at staying calm I'd be fine. Yet what I presume was a wave of adrenaline my body used to wake me up really laid on the panic.

Definitely when my girlfriend and I went our seperate ways. I cried for days

I've been fortunate enough thus far not to have any family bereavements so I could say my worst moment is quite tame to some others.

Having my right eye get sliced by a window pane.

Gonna have to go with when I went blind during my exams, October 2011. Yep, that's right up there. In general, August-November 2011 was an extremely difficult time physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

I vaguely recall hearing about that I think. What was the cause again?

Retinal detachment in the left eye and retinal tearing in the right eye. According to the docs, it was bound to happen at some point.

But long story short, it got better. Thank God for retinal ERs and ambitious young doctors.

Yeah, I empathize with that. Though with me they never actually said there was nothing wrong - simply that they didn't know what it was. This went on for about 3 years. Really frustrating.

I honestly don't know what the worst moment of my life, so far, is.

There's a good number of candidates to choose from.

It's a tie between an ex that I cared for the most of all my ex's telling me she had an incurable but non-deadly venereal disease after we first had sex and learning my father had an affair with another woman last year as well as that he saw prostitutes and had VD's from them which he infected my mom with and could have affected me before I was born.

I'm actually extremely phobic about blindness so this is one of the worst things I could imagine.

I had a similar problem when I was younger. For a long time to stop that from happening I had to put eye ointment in to stop it from happening. Thankfully it was just a partial tear and not as bad as you, since you need surgery for your problem. When it first happened the pain would be so bad that I had to not see any light, even with the good eye and the painkillers were so strong that it upset my stomach causing me to throw up in the doctor's office. Also my problem could have been related to an old injury I got to my eye when I six when a plant with a sharp needle like leaves scratched my eye. I had to wear a patch for two weeks as a result

Well they did find something wrong with me, which I think is related to the stomach problem since both occurred about the same time, but the problem is that they have no cure, they are just treating it until it becomes so bad that I need a kidney replacement. If I am correct that my parasite problem is cause my kidney problem, it could be a giant leap forward in medicine, since outside of diabetes, no one knows what causes kidney disease and that kills thousands of people every year.

April 2009, I got my back surgery.
I was in the ICU for like 5 days, and the hospital 7 days after that. The whole summer I couldn't do anything, my back hurt like hell, I threw up blood once. It was terrible.

But one good thing, I've got an awesome scar all the way down my back, or yeah and I don't have scoliosis anymore!

Edit - 2 Rods and 14 Screws in my back, and it doesn't set off the airport sensors :p
