That said; I don't particularly believe in any religions or higher beings nowadays but I was brought up the traditional Chinese way i.e. a mixture of Confucian ethics, Taoist folklore religion and Buddhism. ;)

So, should Confucianism be replaced with "Traditional Chinese?" Even as we speak, I'm talking to AoA about modifying the poll further. Now is the time to act!

OK, added Jehovah's witness and scientology.

If you want more switch, let me know. ;)

Scientology?? oh come on thats just 'hollywood' vogue.:p

I thought this was a serious thread.;)

I chose Moderate Protestant, as that's the way I was raised. She decided to go into heavy religious mode when I was a teenager and forced my father and I to go to church..or else. Basically she wouldn't allow me to go out with friends, do things, etc unless I went to church. As soon as I turned 18, it was different and I haven't stepped foot in a Baptist church for 10 years.
My partner is Catholic, and if we were ever to get married I would most likely convert. I never really chose to be a protestant, so it wouldn't be a big deal for me to make a few changes.

Alright I made up my mind and voted for orthodox jew, as the last generation of religious people in my family had to be, since reform and conservative jewdeism weren't invented yet...

Almost all jewish Israelis are orthodox Jews G-Man.

omichyron: Do you believe in karma and stuff as well? Are humans reincarnated into other animals, or just other humans? Thx for answering so far.

@Ohkrana and Mr. President:

Whatever your opinions of Scientology are, and I share them, it is a practiced religion. I asked AoA to include it because I think there is a scientologist member of CFC.

I am trying to make as comprehensive a poll as possible.

The Force won't be with if you don't get back on topic....

Taoism is a better replacement. Anyway no need to chg or make a big fuss since we have very few Chinese around these boards. ;) Just pointing out a general Western misconception that Confucianism is akin to a religion.

The Chinese are pretty free about organized religion, much like Westerners. I've known of some who are Christians, Taoist/Buddhist/Confucians (usually mixed), free-thinkers, even Muslims. ;)

I arrived at my beliefs independently, so I have little knowledge of actual religions that believe in reincarnation. I don't even know what karma is. I know a fair amount about christianity because those people keep trying to convert me  not because I've done much religious study without being asked to.

Anything that humans are reincarnated as would be sentient, and anything that is sentient must have a soul and therefore must have someone reincarnated into it (awkward word use/sentence structure there, but I'm not sure how else to put it). Are any other animals sentient? That's a topic for another debate.

I was raised Roman Catholic. However this was mainly through the school as my parents are not particularly religious. Since I was twelve though the only times I have passed through the door of a church was when I was pretty much forced to, i.e funerals, school, visiting the grandparents, etc.

I studied Confucianism/Taoism/Buddhism last year for Philosophy and I found them very interesting, a lot more so than the Christian religion. At the moment I would consider myself Agnostic though. I couldn't care less whether there is a God/Allah/Supreme Being whatever. It doesn't impact on my life at all.

Taoism is not a religion. I have learned T'ai-chi and Kung-fu with a Shao-lin monk and we read Tao and we agree to call it a metaphisic (is right in english?) or a philosophy, but anyway a religion.

as far as i know from kung fu movies are the shaolin monks chan buddhists, which is very similar (or even the same as) the japanese zen buddhism.
