What makes a Christian a good Christian?

So you would rather hear other peoples opinions than what Jesus himself said about it? I would have thought going to the actual source of Christianity as 'interesting' enough.

I didnt say it. I showed you biblically where Jesus said it.

I don't believe that your interpretation is the only one worth paying attention to. :)

i'm sure there are independent historical accounts of bishops of rome long befor the first schisms?

Bishops of Rome, yes, but not that they believed in the bishopric of Rome as the head of Christendom.

I would say that your interpretation has to be a correct one. Which means, essentially, that it is not feasible for anyone to judge who is truly a good Christian, but God.

I expect quite a few Christians in Valhalla. Some of those Doctors without Borders chaps, for sure.

I am God, and have a list of all the good Christians, if anyone's interested.

Wouldn't all the good Christians be the people who end up in heaven?

Depends on whether you're using the True Scotsman fallacy or not.
Jesus warns that many good Christians won't be accepted into heaven.

I'm not a Christian and I don't really know a whole hell of a lot about Christianity. My impression is that "be like Jesus" is the overriding theme of being a good Christian. If that's the case, what does that mean? Love your neighbors, raise people from the dead, be a carpenter, get books written about you? Or is it something other than (or more than) be like Jesus?

What makes a Christian a good Christian? What about a bad Christian?

Also it would be really cool if nobody got into a flamewar calling each other bad Christians for disagreeing with what other people think makes a good Christian. I dunno about being a good Christian, but I know that being a good person involves not being a dick. Let's not make it personal, k? Thanks.

:jesus:

No one knows, except God. So, unless God is a member on CFC, you'll just get a flame war, which while fun to watch, defeats the purpose of this thread.

He is a member.

Whats to interpret in this particular scripture? How many interpretations of what Jesus said can there be on this particular scripture?

I think you are simply in denial.

As typical of a great many people that wish to deny what the bible says because it doesnt fit into their lifestyle/opinion/outlook.

Kids, say no to Protestantism.

And if they do it for a good reason and lets say they are somewhat religious they are smarter than you , (on this matter).

Jesus said to have the faith of a child...not like Einstein. I think I will go with Jesus on that one.

To be a good Christian, or for that matter a good person, regardless of religion, first and foremost one should follow the Ten Commandments. Some may argue this but it should be a safe assumption.

Next. Believe in Jesus the Son of God, and strive to follow His path.

After that, for me personally it is keeping my relationship with God and/or Jesus, a personal one. I do not believe in spreading my belief to the masses, and I do find it somewhat disturbing that some other Christians feel it is their duty. In the past I have kindly and cheerfully ignored their views and sent them on their way, but some cross the line. If someone asks about my belief I will explain myself as I see fit and nothing else matters beyond that. That is between me and God.
