The meaning of the word 'Macednian' has been contested by the FYR of Macedonia and the Greek people. Modern Greece barks even at the name of Macedonia(they consider FYR of Macedonia to be a Slav imposter)and try to come up with evidence that Macedon of Aalexander was in Greee,not Macdon. Macedonia claims that Alexander s part of their history....
But considering that Alexander was the spread of Hellinic culture, was Aristotle's pupil, and was Gre in appearance, I would say yes he is Greek.
Today's Macedonians are Slav; therefore they should NOT Hellinic culture to be Slav...

Ounce again. His culture was greek, his nationality was Illyrian-Macedonian.
What modern day citizens of Greece and Skopje are doing,is trying to claim Alexander the Great as a banner just to have a right to bragery.Thats what i see.
saying that Alexander was not Greek was Macedonian is like saying Pericles was not Greek was Athenian.Of course Macedonian were different culturally from southern Greeks,but -oh-Spartans were quite different culturaly from Athenians,thats why there was a distinction between Ionians,Dorians and Aeolians.
To me is like just trying to split the "cousins" into different lineages.
I would like Companiero to cite the information he provides here.Tell us what books provided you with this knowledge,because it seems to me that it has been posted here as the only light in the matter while there are many studies and many conclusions on the subject.
Just try to go behind labels and focus on the acts of a great man,with a HUMAN lineage,that focus his mind on his dreams and no man,mountain or sea stopped him from realizing his DREAM.
if we all could be inspired from the PURE act(because of course he did it by WAR,killing and fighting),the pure power of character,carisma and motivation maybe we could live in different societies.Or who knows
