What needs fixing before we release V34

I would prefer to keep Alt-Timelines and Custom_Religions as modules until we get a better options screen.

OK that understandable then. I am in no hurry, you are taking over for three months anyways.

@SO Would it be possible for you to build a civilization for each of the Cultural Groups we have, making them unplayable at the moment? It would allow us to do some exploring of the long term idea of building civs rather than starting with them. They probably only need one leader and that set up for developing leaders at that.

If we are going to go for Evolving Nations then developing leaders and evolving religions would appear to be mandatory for it. ;)

I believe this is what you are asking for, correct?

Yes that will work. Now we just need the leaders - a bit extrovert/egotistical:mischief:. Besides I don't think I have a picture of myself that isn't 30 years old - drivers license and passport excepted:D

please fix fighter and bomber promotions , as in v33 they do not work

Some days ago i pointed out that the achievements made by Sargon (safety, medical, environmental and tourism) build the building and not the wonder.
Sargon told that this is no easy fix.

Well, i attached a possible solution according to the existing achievements: [insert name of] achivement now grants the national wonder (nice wonder pic btw:)).

Also want to address these issues with attacker/defender selections and xp being awarded to units that units withdrew from.

I should soon have my major project complete and will be able to then get to work mopping up these annoying issues.

OK i got each MAJOR Nomad culture listed as you want, and i believe all of them are working . Let me know what else you need, or changed, thx.

See preview in pic attached. (MLF in zip also.

My suggestion is that totally stop the planning of new things and convey time & effort into bug fixing. Until current package is working and complete, there is no sense adding new stuff that eventually needs fixing too.

Thats a guaranteed way to make a big bug mess.

What Reisk@ said.

This issue also needs addressing!

"Get Real" guys. All this is voluntary and not all the volunteers can work on the things that need fixing. They therefore work on stuff they can do. Suggesting that don't can lead to them leaving altogether which is not what we want.

We have had "total freezes" before where only the bugs were worked on which meant that people added stuff to their version only and when the freeze was over dumped a large amount of new stuff in at once.

That may be so, but to be honest a working version with less content is always better than a hodgepodge mess. It doesn't pay to release a "version" if the bugs aren't worked out of it until after new stuff is added (that either contains stuff that a player may not want or has new bugs of its own). Not every player wants to use the SVN, and even those that do use it are never going to get a "finished" version if bugs aren't killed before new stuff is added.

I notice the bug with signs disappearing every time you save is not mentioned. Whether or not you can fix it for v34, a) please don't forget it and b) can I have an update on where it figures in your plans.

v34 will fix bugs in v33 and will have new bugs from the new content. Not to release a new version means people who don't use the SVN wont get any fixes.

Main problem is the fact that two people have hopefully temporaly left the mod for real life. Also we don't have anyone working on Civics at the moment as CivPlayer8 seems to have left also.

I did not know it was a problem. IIRC it is a python mod, I have been having some other problems with python where bits stop working for no reason that I can see. I'll add them to the list, maybe they have the same cause.

Now that I've got the lion's share of the Size Matters option committed (certainly enough for playtesting to really be effective) I can start listing and hopefully easily eliminating the laundry list of minor through major bug issues I've seen reported over the course of this long development cycle.

I can't completely disagree with you but what happens is you get wrapped up in moving forward when it seems there's little to no problems, then of course during that project development you start seeing all the cockroaches come out of the woodwork and you can't do much about them until you're done with what you started working on.

Additionally, many bugs we leave to each other to address because we each kinda have our own realms of influence over the mod. As DH has mentioned, sometimes this means a bug goes unaddressed for a while because we recognize that a modder that's taking a time out is responsible for it. We don't want to step on their toes - particularly since we might cause another problem in the process and confuse things for them when they return. Some of the building chain issues are in exactly this state of limbo for a bit.

Anyhow, I'll try to adjust my focus and start knocking down bugs here until the next release, perhaps fleshing out a little progress on some of the remaining gaps in the Size Matters option. And I've got a Player's Guide to write up for the fairly complete Fight or Flight option as well.

Just to be clear, this happens to all signs, ie. including ones you add yourself with Alt-S, as well as modded/auto ones such as placenames.

I understand that, but what I meant was the bugs from both should be fixed first. It doesn't really help if the bugs from v33 get fixed but the bugs from v34beta (at least most) aren't fixed in v34final as well. ;) To tell the truth, if that had been done before any of the "final" versions were released, it wouldn't be a problem at all. It just seems arbitrary to release a "version" that is just another SVN release with the version number slapped on it.

I know everyone is chomping at the bit to move forward, but sometimes you simply can't do that. After all, most players don't want to be beta testers. It is boring for the modders to sit on their hands while other bugs are fixed, but someone has to make the decision of whether this mod is meant for the players or the modders/testers.

The SVN is a great tool for either fixing bugs or adding content. Doing both at the same time, not so much...It should be used for the former before a new version, the latter after a new version, and both after that. Then the cycle starts over.

TLDR version: fixing the previous version in the new version is not the correct way to do it. The correct way is to fix everything new, release, add new, fix new, release, etc etc etc.
