I like the one about assigning a particular religion to a government. Nice way to play around with what ifs.

Religion is too touchy. I'm sorry, but many will be offended.

If Rise Of Nations come as its promised, it will overshadow any further game, even civ4
).
); it can look at the dynamics of change, ebb and flow (at the moment the game is on an ever upward spiral for (most of) the starting civs and especially the one you are playing). Etc. etc. etc..........Originally posted by kryszcztov
What I'd really like to see in Civ, and maybe this can be implemented in mods :
I hate when I find a tech before everybody else and start working on a wonder, and then the AI finds the tech too and builds the wonder before me because it had pre-built it. I think you should be allowed to build a wonder (standard or small) when you discover the tech of course but I think you should not be allowed to switch production to the new wonder. That would make the wonder be a very special project that you may want to start only if you think you can make it, and this would give more credit to science and less to production.
So : switch wonder to sthg else, why not, but switch unit or improvement or wonder to wonder, never !

. For instance, in a game I was just playing the Americans had started on a lone continent so they were behind in tech. They declared war on me and my iron clads beat there galleons etc. Then I invaded their continent and burned their continent to teh ground after a long struggle and bombardment etc. Anyway, I dont want huge concesions out of them, it isnt worth it to get cities that will just flip back or to conquer the rest of their dessert island, but I dont want em building up and distracting me again. What if I put as a term "weapons inspection". You could specify how many of each type of unit they could have, then you could build a "inspector" unit which can travel freely in their territory. If you catch them with unauthorized weapons you can force them to destroy it or declare war. It would have been worth it to me to keep selling techs and resources to em and keep em as friends than to have to fight an easy war of 50 or so turns like it actually played out. This is actually realistic in terms of real history too. I think religions would be a good idea. Age of Mythology had religions albeit ancient ones. Medeavel: Total War has modern religions like Catholocism and Islam. Heck im a Catholic and I wasnt offended that they put my religion in. Even though the Pope can declare war. And even though he beat me in a war and invaded my territory. But what about countries that change religion. Plus the ancient religions that are extinct now.Originally posted by Iulianus
My hope is a civ has its own religion and laguage, and conquering a nation be completed not only if it loses its cities but as a combination of culture, religion, and language convertion. So revolutions can take place, and nations re-exist.
I want to see the return of civil wars from civ2, new nations and so on, could make fighting a war a lot easier. More UU's would be nice as well, like one for each era. the british modern unit could be the challenger 2 and the us unit could be the M1 Abrams and so on.new nations and so on, could make fighting a war a lot easier.

French tanks look exactly like German tanks.
you picked a pretty bad example there... you'll note that the Germans get the Panzer, therefore their tanks do look different.
Whenever I take over a civ its like rebuilding the thing from the damn dark ages.
