I've never played Subnautica, but those images struck me immediately as No Man's Sky.
Yeah, I think if you liked No Man's Sky you'd like Subnautica.

Down about half-a-klick in my minisub:

Some of the local crustaceans. About 16 feet tall.

And my new sub. She's not ready for the deep waters yet, so I'm mostly still using the minisub.

Oh, man, the Seaview. I gotta find some reruns of Voyage To the Bottom of the Sea!

Meanwhile, downloaded and installed EU3 and started a Spanish campaign. No noticeable change for the new machine, of course EU3 didn't really tax the old machine at all so that's not surprising.

I don't know what key combo I pressed but I ended up in some screenshot-taking mode that had lots of cool options.

Is Subnautica similar to Minecraft? I never played NMS, but I hear it's a similar sort of "play till you get bored" loop.

While Subnautica contains many of the same verbs as Minecraft, it is very different because it has a fixed, hand crafted world and a plot that starts with you crashed on an ocean planet where you need to stay alive, search out other survivors and arrange rescue. Its also just generally very good. Make sure your computer is up to spec though.

I think comparing the two games offers good insight into the relative strengths and usages of procedural generation vs. design.

I wanted to play Pandemic 2, but I forgot it's a flash game. Damn.

I don't even have it installed.

Adobe is killing off Flash this year.

I got it playing!

And despite having zero visibility or symptoms, somehow the governments are able to detect it to make a vaccine. Darn it.

Better restart.

Not sure why they are all closing down shipyards. Seem an unlikely source of infection.

"Series of hurricanes hit West Europe."

That seems a bit unlikely.

Dammit not again

I think there's always going to be "a vaccine in development." That doesn't necessarily mean that it is going to work. Or that it will complete development in time. I think that's probably the objective...keep it contained until the vaccine is developed. Or make sure it spreads fast enough to kill everyone, depending on which side you are on.

Madagascar shut down its port just after this
