Does anyone else miss the good old days when flash was all the rage and there were like a billion websites all making flash games?

I can't say the old days produced better browser games than what's released on Kongregate nowadays. Although the performance for most of Kong's Unity games is utterly abysmal.

After 30 hours of play time, I've found Wolcen pretty good. I'm playing offline to avoid the online issues with the launch. Act 1 I knew from the pre release and it has been improved and I am into Act 2. They have some really good ideas that improve upon POE and i think that over time there is lots of room for new cool stuff. Melee in Wolcen is better than in POE; it feels like melee should. I'm still learning how things work. I expect to run through all three acts. The graphics are exceptional. You can choose either male or female characters and can customize outfits with skins for in game gold. And yes, they can fight in their underwear. I do have one complaint. The weapon size is too large and it looks out of balance. I prefer a more natural look for weapons.

The story line seems reasonable and coherent with lots of room to grow. Mostly you fight on your own with a companion here and there. Boss fights can be hard at least until you figure things out. If you die in a fight, you can re appear in town or, by holding the space bar, get reborn in the ongoing fight with new life and potions. That is very nice. The skill tree is complicated and I'm still figuring it out. It is three rotating disks each with melee, magic and ranged skills. by rotating the discs, you can bring wanted skills closer to your active points.

Another blissful five-hour stretch of playing has seen my Dutch Knights, backed by Ancient Cavalry and Swiss Mercenaries, conquer some Spanish exclaves as well as the mainland. Not to be outdone, the Spanish sailed on to seize a lone Korean city in the middle of a permafrosted island near the south pole, so in the inevitable next war against the Spanish I can get away with not exterminating them because they'll have three permafrosted, coalless islands in the back of nowhere.

Oh, man, the Seaview. I gotta find some reruns of Voyage To the Bottom of the Sea!

My blessed life. I posted this and forgot all about it, but was looking back at something else in the thread, saw @EgonSpengler Subnautica posts and was reminded. So I figured I'd look into it before I forgot again, and turns out that MeTV is just starting a run of Voyage To the Bottom of the Sea, airing S1E1 next Saturday.

I haven't seen that show since I was a wee tyke. Let us know how it holds up.

Ugh, that is a HUGE pet peeve for me, I refuse to watch any anime that does this either. Drives me crazy. But I watched some streamer play for like half an hour and didn't particularly notice, so maybe it's not that bad...

What I did notice was that he was killing basically everything in one hit, rarely two. That doesn't seem particularly fun. How's your experience been with that?

It was in reruns before I even I had a chance to see it, but I remember it being on every afternoon right after Star Trek when little Tim the latch key kid was avidly watching TV. It was one of my favorites. However, as I was setting up the DVR to record it and excitedly sharing this discovery with my gf I was not met with great enthusiasm.

gf: Why do you want to watch that? It's from like, the forties.
Tim: No, it's from 1961. And be careful what you say next, because *I* am also from 1961.
gf: No you're not.
Tim <thinking this is a less than brilliant point to be disputing>: Ummm, well, yeah, actually I am.
gf <counting something out on her fingers>: Oh. Wow. Yeah, I guess you are. <wanders off>

Hmmmm.

Act 1 has a couple of tough bosses, but it is basically a practice run to learn the game. My character is a two handed sword melee toon that can take out close groups pretty easily, but bosses not so much. To further help, my years at POE taught me to know how to build a fundamentally strong character. As I make progress, I'll let you know. I have died maybe a dozen times. There is lots of new skills and magic in this game than in POE with all kinds of uses. I have lots to learn.

The theme in this version of chess is chaos versus order.

Bloodstained, sure it's not Symphony of The Night, but I have some fun, and I finished Tales of Berseria in 60 hours (people mostly play around 80 till 120 hour) the game is so ironical, it seems to criticize church indoctrination and dogma by being so preachy all through out the game, they keep repeating "you are the captain of your own ship" like millions of time in every main or side quest like it's a kind of brainwashing attempt to the player. A real tragicomic.

After Bloodstained I may presume with playing Witcher 1 Enchanted Edition. Or maybe seek some good Jrpg, man I really miss the good old Jrpg like Chrono Trigger or Breath of Fire 3.

Like the lady in this picture?

Look more like the Scythe equip her as a weapon than the other way around :crazyeye:

I find it really obnoxious that Dragon Age Origins doesn't include a way to respec by default- you either have to enable the console or use a mod. My own character isn't such an issue, but it would be nice to use morrigan as a healer perhaps, and leliana is perfect for a bard melee rogue but comes with a bunch of archery talents to start. It's just stupid since cunning increases her bard skills, but does nothing for her bow damage. There's kind of some issues with party makeup in the game due to this. You can either rely exclusively on potions, make your avatar into a mage healer or take wynn everywhere. For tanking again you just kind of don't have one, use your avatar or take alister everywhere. Tanks are quite as required, you can cc most things well enough or have a rogue tank with high dodge and defense. Also super annoying, I can't find a way to make npc rogues backstab. Like it's not available in their tactics and they hit everything from the front instead of positioning correctly. I have to take manual control of them.

I found it obnoxious also, but you can use this talking crow/raven mod, I use it, and problem solved.

Playing more Zoo Tycoon. In hindsight, putting the compost building next to the restaurant wasn't such a great idea.

Looking at the screenshot, it looks exactly like Battle vs. Chess. Then I found out that it's the same game, Check vs. Mate is the North American name.
