What was dropped?

Any graphic on the map. The game renders every single tile weather you can see it or not. Terrain takes the bulk of the time due to the fact that civ isn't smart enough to realize if it's changing one tile or many. When a terrain (and some features too) changes, the game doesn't just redraw the tile it's on - it redraws all the surrounding tiles too.

Thanks! Do you also know if activating animations takes less time than changing graphics? The thing is, for Planetfall GeoModder has allowed some terrain improvements to change graphics when they are worked, not by adding animations but by swapping the whole graphic. AFAIK the AI removes and then readds all of its workers in all of its bases during its turn, which would cause a slowdown if swapping graphics takes longer than toglling animations.

I think improvements work slightly differently, as if the AI builds an improvement in a tile you've explored but can't see I don't think it updates the view until you can see the tile again.
This is correct.

The Flying Monkeys, a unique unit of the Tralfamadorian civilization, were removed in ver. 0.19

The Tralfamadorians themselves fell victim in ver. 0.21a and are almost competely forgotten now, pilgrims.

So it goes.

I played FfH from 0.23, so what is this Tralfamadorians?

Actually, the Flying Monkey was better known by the nickname "Beer Monkey", and looked like a big pink elephant. It didn't fly, but the ritual required to be able to see it (normally it was invisible) rendered the visionary unable to tell the difference between things on the ground and things in the air.

land units can blockade too, and settlers cannot found cities on blockaded terrain. So if you desire it would be possible to have a single boss unit block an entire area from expansion.

That's nifty.

The Blighted Forrest and Diakonos are a stab at "Wilderness" in FF, with mixed results.
