What We Know About Brave New World

http://www.gamespot.com/features/top-10-tweetable-truths-for-civilization-v-brave-new-world-6406878/

Has this been linked? It reveals details about Zulu civ.

ONE
Shaka of the Zulu returns in Brave New World! Melee units cost 50% less maintenance; all units receive 25% more experience #Civ5 @GameSpot

TWO
In Brave New World, Zulu's Impi warriors replace the pikeman & strike twice when attacking: first at range, then at melee #Civ5 @GameSpot

THREE
In Brave New World, Zulu's Ikanda replaces barracks & provides new upgrades, such as bonus to flanking & vs. gunpowder units #Civ5 @GameSpot

Sorry if that's old news. :P

Also from this article,
BraveNewWorld's reformation belief includes: purchase science buildings w/faith; missionaries can convert adjacent barbarians #Civ5 @GameSpot

In the Nuclear Fusion branch of Brave New World's tech tree, there's a new, final upgrade for ranged infantry: the bazooka #Civ5 @GameSpot

I know we already knew about the bazooka, but now we know it unlocks at Nuclear Fusion, which is very very late (GDR). I thought it was going to be an upgrade for anti-tanks, but this makes me think it will be the upgrade for machine guns?

Also, the barbarian converting?? Does this mean they can convert them into a city for your empire?

kkanza-kongo.jpg

-Kongo is probably not in.

At 7:30 of the Rev3 preview a new city-state ending in 'anza-Kongo' appears next to the diplomat prompt. I'm not sure if this is enough to count as new though.

whoops TheKingofBigOz beat me too it.

From: http://www.gameinformer.com/games/c...on-will-be-quintessential-civ-experience.aspx

City flipping is back: It’s important to keep an eye on what your neighbors are doing, though, as a rival with high tourism and a different set of ideologies could cause cities to flip. Unlike in the past, players can defend against traitorous metropolises by succumbing to the will of the people. Civilization IV was the last time that cities could be “culture flipped,” but unlike with that title, the ideology system provides a way for leaders to react. In the past, there wasn’t much that could be done to avoid cities leaving.

From that article, this is also new info to the best of my knowledge:

These include cultural boons like the World’s Fair, the International Space Station for a science boost, and the International Games for improved happiness.

The World's Fair is specifically a cultural buff, the Internaional (World?) Games are a happiness buff, and the heretofore(?) unheard-of International Space Station is a beaker buff.

Ok, I think I got all the new info

Also, around 3:37-3:41 in the video, if you look at the science trading...It takes how many more techs the more advanced civ has than the other civ. The number is then divided in half and that's how many beakers the less advanced civ gets!

Salvador is a new city state. If you look at the pictures at the bottom of the last page, Assyria owns Salvador and that's not an Assyrian name so it has to be a city-state.

It's a Brazilian city. Looks like Ashurbanipal has been working...

Here's a list of new things that i noted in the interview on thursday. Some of them might have been discussed that I've overlooked, some I've got another point from than what has been discussed here, and some i mention again because I believe they should be on the list :) Sorry if something is already on the list - choose whatever you like:

* Trade routes doesn't explore (0 sight at least)
* Great works in the interview: +2 :c5culture:, +2 tourism from both great works - era seems to have a saying in this bonus
* Tourism victory: Meet all civilizations as soon as possible to start the "tourism counter" before their culture rises too much
* Tourism levels:
** 10% : Exotic
** 30% : Familiar
** ~50 - 65% : Popular
** 100% : Influential
* Remormation belief: End the piety policy tree - tourism boost was mentioned
* New spy type - Diplomat: Boosts tourism
* Unhappy cities can flip
* Scramble for Africa-scenario:
** No fog of war on the ocean
** Continent shape always the same
* Less Warmonger assigned, less backstabbing, more friendly advise on your military status rather than attacking
* More new national wonders: Some related to tourism in some degree

NY Post interview with Ed Beech.

Players will be able to select an ideology—Communism, Fascism, or Democracy—each with immediate and long-lasting effects on both military strength and culture. In a direct response to player feedback, creating and promoting art is now a worthwhile pursuit.
Did the ideologies change name from order, autocrazy and freedom, or did Ed just change the name for the interview? @ Bite: Your post still says "order, autocrazy and freedom".

The Louvre's 4 Great-Work-slots have to be filled with 2 artworks and 2 artifacts from different era and different nationality each to gain the theming-bonus. One artwork might come from one of your own artists. The other one has to be from a foreign artist!
Unless it is possible to trade art (which I doubt), conquering cities with some Great Works in it should be the only possibility to get access to this foreign artworks.
Shouldn't this be added?

I been thinking (know thi isn't a guessing forum, so I'll make it short), but could also be granted by CS ;) End of thinking! :D

Is it just me, or is that not a harbour/seaport in Lisbon?

On internal trade routes (transfer production after Workshop or food after Granary), the Escapist article also states that "The best part of these internal Trade Routes is that you're actually producing these resources, rather than draining them from the city of origin." which answers one question that folks have been asking.
I find this very interesting, but honorstly I was hoping it wouldn't - a bit unrealistic :sad: However, it makes the domestic routes more interesting, not just when starting new cities / building wonders.

-"Trade routes last for 30 turns before being eligible for renewal"

...

-"Resolutions can also be useful for making up short-falls in your own game, so if you find yourself lagging behind in the science department, you can propose a resolution that makes researching technologies that others have already discovered quicker for those that have not. Other options include proposals that nations desist their nuclear weapons programme (though it does not disarm those already stockpiled) or to ban city-state trade. Each resolution also highlights those leaders that will be happy with you for proposing it and those that will be peeved by your meddling."

World Congress Resolution: One World Religion
Some interesting stuff I think deserves it space on the overview (sorry Bite, just making sure you didn't miss it, that's all ;) ...)

World Congress:

First to contact all civs (and have researched Printing Press) is only guaranteed to host the first World Congress.

What about adding the information from this picture? Also seems the UN council is out.
[*]World Congress automatically turns into the U.N. mid-way through the atomic age;

From this vide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htFD1jlZwyw (4:31): Nau is a UU for Portugal and can sell "exotic goods" for CS. Once per ship, if CS is farther from capital, it gains more gold.
From the video
3:00: New mission type (see Sydney and Wittenburg, both maritime, but I doubt that nothing but a coincidence). Secondly, Hanoi is a CS, so Vietnam is most likely not a new civ.
4:29: Are those mines new, or where there always this belt on the left hand side of the tile improvement?
4:34: Yet another mission, this time with Genova. Seems like they want to get a trade route established. I find that pretty certain though nothing can be concluded.

And some other points from the interview:

* New screenshots in the next few weeks
* 2013, fall: Patch-release - to balance out strategic weakpoints found by players (to make the game more difficult)

Not included, but...

* % Corporations
* % Global warming: Shirk "Not in Brave New World, but you never know what the future will bring" (Alpha Centauri-remake?)

The part of that video with Sweden uses the G&K interface, so anything there is probably out of date concerning what's in BNW.

About the Feitoria ability:
Game Informer
Her Feitoria can be built in any civilization[Update: we received clarification that the Feitoria can be built only in city-states], regardless of relationship. The improvement's presence provides a copy of any resource in the opposing empire to Maria. If the target is an ally, she will receive two of each luxury.

I just noticed in the gamespot shaka screen that you can buy votes in the World Congress. The trade screen shows offering copper and some gold for Shaka to vote to ban whale trading in the world congress.

From an Ed Beach interview yesterday, more details on Portugal:

UA: "They are able to double the normal amount of gold that you pull in for having diverse sets of resources between the initial city of the trade route and the destination city".

UI: What we've already heard. Confirms that it's CS-only.

Nau: Mentions that its 'cargo' ability can only be used once. He also says that it's faster than the Caravel it replaces, allowing the Portuguese to explore the map faster.
