what's the most useful thing you learned?

I learned that I am one of the most unlucky players in all of civdom. I swear that the AI puts those barb goddy huts right next to my starting point to try and stunt my growth. Never works but I still say it does it on purpose.

yeah, more than I thought too

:)

Thanks :D

The most useful thing I've learnt is a healthy body makes for a healthy mind.

If you are depressed then exercise, it really does wonders to your morale, self-esteem, sleep and state of mind. All this improves self-confidence which for me and I'm sure most people is vitally important for getting on and having a good life, certaintly it is the case with me.

P.S and yes I had a nice 8 days skiing in Norway thank you very much, but boy, Norway is expensive ;)

I've learned what I want is a sham. It does not really exist except in theory and song. But you know what IS attainable for me and everyone else out there? Settling. Is it good to do? I doubt it. It's that or drop the whole idea. There are plenty of reasons for doing it, but the one that really matters to me is BS. And may all who made me believe otherwise burn in a pit of death and flame for eternity.

In Civ I've learned alot! In a matter of months I went from newbie to Monarch, learning a good sum of my tricks from this site.

In debates I've learned not to say something unless you are absolutely certain you can back up the claim. And I've also learned there are people out there that are as intrested in History and Politics as myself :)

Also that there's still ALOT that I have left to learn.

actually. I knew that word here because the first time I didnt find it in my dictionary.

:p

Can I assume you find it afterwards?

But what I learn more were abbreviations:
IMHO, BTW, USUK, OST, CFC, OCC, PTW, TF, AoA, OT, SF

I still have to find out:
PBEM, IIRC
(and the difference betwen thread and line...)

EDIT: Another important thing I have learned:
I'm not the only one suffering from the "only one more turn" syndrom [dance]

I learned that in the original civ that roads are key to victory. Without them, your troop movement is horrible.

I've learned that there are alot of people who complain about americans and they don't really even know what a real american is all about. They say things like "American movies aren't very historically correct" (they're movies people, made for entertainment if you think they are learning tools all I have to say is "Hello, is there anyone home up there?") or they think American culture is all about McDonalds and Rock and Roll, they don't mention things like the Smithsonian (biggest in the world)
The internet (where are we now everyone??) and the some of the greatest colleges and university's in the world (Yale, Princeton, Harvard).

And usually these are closed minded people who think they know everything. (no one knows everything) You watch, I"ll get flamed here by some of them, they will personally attack me and my opinion, even though I never named names or personally attacked anyone. Just my opinion folks.

To be fair I have also met some very interesting, nice, and open minded people from around the world. I have made some new friends. I consider my friends and relatives my greatest assets I have, and I love them all.

America = Just a country like yours with a very diverse array of different people living here all wanting the same thing, equal opportunity for everyone (hey at least WE are trying to all you flamers) and the pursuit of Happiness.

I agree. I hate the flames and the generalizations, but some people are just too ignorant. When I go to school, I'm sometimes called a racsist, sexist, immoral, and overall a jerk, because of my political stance. So, I really don't want to go to a forum, (where most people actually have decent intelligence) and see people get flamed for their views. I want to go to a forum, where people around the world can have civilized conversations and joke around but not any flaming. I'm sure most of you would agree. I think the mods do a good job and trying to make it this way, too. Sabo, I have deep respect for what you have said.

Thank you brother,

It's their own feelings of inferiority, they point at others to take focus off themselves. These are people who are so quick to point out others faults so they don't have to look at their own.

Before you flamming yo-yo's say anything, take quick notice that I didn't point anyone out or address anyone in particular.

Peace on earth

I SO wish everyone could get along with everyone. I know it will never happen though

Most important thing I've learned is to plan ahead. Better being early a day rather late an hour.

The most useful thing I have learned?

I guess it would be that understanding of other people's immaturities and motivations.
I also learned how to break out of the social conditioning and fear of non-conformity of mind.
Many people think they are non-conformist, but they still are controlled by deep-rooted social/religious indoctrination.

It was a happy day for me when I came to realise none of society's nonsense I have seen around me is actually relevant.

I prefer to be an observer of human folly.

That is why I come to these boards, full of interesting types of poster.
Some immature, some cunning and some hopeless.

I have seen many people develop and grow here.
As a whole, this site encourages people to interact and ramble on in a controlled environment.

CFC is an exciting social experiment!

:goodjob:

I've learned that it's best not to be involved in silly threads like this one.
