what's the most useful thing you learned?

I've learned that it's best not to be involved in silly threads like this one.

His first post and he responds to a post he thinks it's better not to respond too??? Looks like we have 'another' budding trouble maker here at CFC...

Smithsonian (biggest in the world)

Thats the very problem, you see. Its all about the biggest, the largest and the greatest. Doesn't allways work that way you know.
When I was in New York I stepped into what was said to be the the largest cathedral in the world, or something like that. It was a modern cathedral trying to look old. But I wasn't impressed. All I remember about it was that it didn't smell right. So what if it is the largest in the world? It still doesn't smell the way the old european ones do. The smell of the Old World.

With you americans its allways about the biggest. Yes, sure you have the largest universities, but it doesn't matter when there are universities in Sweden that are several centuries older than your very nation.
Dont get me wrong, I have respect for everything you mentioned, and the Smithsonian in particular, its just that there is a world outside america too.

I believe americans have a hard time understanding europeans, and vice versa, but that dont mean we have to hate each others guts. We should, as you say, try to get along.

I"ll get flamed here by some of them, they will personally attack me and my opinion, even though I never named names or personally attacked anyone. Just my opinion folks.

not from me, for sure.
at least this is a peacefull thread, we have already too many politics threads, which only make people to flame eachother.

my girlfriend "british" says the same thing, the only reason I said biggest was to set it apart from the rest. I've been there have you?? it's beautiful, I suppose I could have said most beautiful, complete, or just BEST museum in the world but even I know "best" would be a dangerous call for anyone to brag about, why does everyone in other country's think we think biggest is best? I certainly don't, like I said I just said biggest becuase I wanted to set it apart that's it

and I don't have a hard time understaiding Europeans, I"ve been there many, many, times. There are many things in Europe that I think are better than in the US. I'm just trying to informe some of these people there is MORE to america than McDonalds and Rock and Roll

I learned that no one took my name before i did.
Which is surprising when you look at the amount of members here.

I also learned that i have probably doubled my post rate in two days. :p

I am seriously amazed at how many registered users there are on this forum.

Some other forum i'm on has 594!

Heh.

I've learnt that a rather astonishing number of people from countries other than my England speak english better than most of my RL friends...

Also Not just kids play computer games (*cough* Col *cough*)
I am not alone!

Because it definitly appears so. I guess I'll make an exception in your case.

Yes I've been to the Smithsonian, and I do think its one of the best museums in the world (especially the air and space).

Another thing I've learnt is to not hate USA over all other things in the world.;) I like most of the americans I've met or talked to, both at CFC and elsewhere, with very few exceptions, since many of them are taught in school not to be afraid of talking in front of people or to people or showing themselves. There of course are parts of the american culture I'm not very fond of though, but I've learnt that there isn't much else to do than to accept it.:)
I could name one american I can't stand though, and it's too bad that he represents the american people.:(

Yes I do Amigo ;)

And like I said there are alot of things in Europe I think are better (and not because they are bigger) House construction for one, an American house is well built but I really don't think they are build to last hundreds and hundreds of years

Germany: The beer and the effenciency the rail system of that country, second to none

UK: US Postal and UK Postal HA, dont make me laugh US is bigger, but NOT better

luxury cars: Rolls Royce and Mercedes compared to Cadilacs and Lincolns, Yeah right they're all luxury but Rolls and Mercs are in a class by themselves

US sports cars????? all I have to say is HELLO ITALY

you get the point

I've learned a lot neither about modding, nor about the game strategies. I don't care about these things much - I use my own strategies, I create modpacks for myself and enjoy them... alone.

The main things I've learned is how to respect people, how to influence my image, ( I'll add there a great quote by Andre Morois that was proved by CFC, if I find it in some minutes... ), I learned a lot of historical facts, found out the main political positions of British and American posters, their attitude to Iraq war campaign, their hobbies, their tastes (especially I know what kind of women some of the active users like most of all), learned to think twice before saying something, learned much....
That's why I'm so grateful to CFC.:D

one thing to add to sabo10s posts: we European are so upset about Americans because we have learned the hard away about feeling 'best' :(
