If the rules were enforced as strictly as they should be, I would have reported that post. :shake: ;)

Most likely that would have done nothing but annoy the mod. Ive seen the word being said at least a dozen of times and never has it gotten an infraction.

Tabs. Saves precious taskbar space. Doesn't it also save system resources?

No, not when you go Ctrl+N for a new window. If you actually OPEN it twice (double-click the icon again) it's pretty much the same. Opening it again actually starts a new proccess, while Ctrl+N only makes a new window with the same proccess.

Initiating a new IE process costs you about 20MB of memory and an additional 10MB of address space. So yes, it saves some, but it's hardly worth mentioning.

What if you want 10 or more separate web pages? What if you have an older system with only 256MB of memory?

IE6's footprint is about 15MB. If you're on a 256MB system trying to run IE7 or have 10 web pages open at once, I'll just smile and ignore you when you complain.

If you have a 256MB system nowadays, don't bother complaining when things dont run very fast.

I mean, even ddr1 memory is relatively cheap, especially for something like another 256 megs..

Something's seriously broken if a 256MB system can't even open 10 measly webpages though!

With current browsers? And the current content. Consider that if every page has at least one flash ad, you're already running a lot of memory and CPU for rendering them. So what happens when you have more than one ad.

Browsers today arent meant for low end systems. It used to be that my old notebook could view videos and etc fine with FF1, without going up to even 50% CPU (Its a 700 mhz P3 with 512 megs of RAM). Nowadays, I better be ready to have a really warm lap if I wanna watch a video.
