I was on the Civ Atlas thread, and I started wondering where the leader screens were. I didn't really know any myself, but according to Guandao, here's where they are:

Spoiler :

Darius-Persepolis

Elizabeth-London, I guess

Napoleon-Waterloo??

Bismarck-Berlin?

Catherine-Hermitage?

Ramesses- Thebes or maybe PiRamesses

Suleiman-Topkapi palace?

Wu Zetian-Chang'an

Oda Nobunaga-battlefield in Japan

Sejong-palace in Korea whpse name I forgot

Genghis-Mongolia, no idea where

Ramkhamhaeng-Sukhothai

Kamehameha-a beach in Hawaii, no clue which one

Gajah Mada-Trowulan I think

Gandhi-mouth of the Ganges???

Nebuchadnezzar: Babylon, where else?

Ashurbanipal-Royal Library

Haile Selassie-his palace in Addis Ababa

Shaka-his kraal in Bulawayo

Askia-Djenne, Timbuktu or even Gao

Dido-Carthage

Theodora-Constantinople, just in front of the Hagia Sophia

Ahmad al-Mansur-Moroccan desert

Isabella-Alhambra

Maria I-that palace in Portugal (I assume the Belém Tower?)

Augustus-his humble residence on Palatine hill?

Harald Bluetooth-a boat somewhere

Gustavus-his palace, I assume

Casimir-a castle in Poland (Possibly Wawel, but I really don't know)

Boudicca-East Anglia (land of the Iceni), historically inaccurate as Boudicca didn't use Duns, defined as a Scottish or Irish fort.

Maria Theresa-a palace in Austria

Alexander-is it Olympus in the background?

Attila-a tent in what is now modern Hungary?

Enrico Dandolo-Venice

Harun al Rashid-Baghdad?

Hiawatha-Upstate New York

Montezuma-Tenochtitlan

Pacal-Palenque

Pachacuti-Machu Picchu

Pedro II-his office

Pocatello-a canyon, no idea where

Washington-no clue, Mount Vernon, Philadelphia?, New York City?, definitely not DC

William-Amsterdam

I've edited it slightly, but still better than what I thought. :)

So, does anyone have any thoughts/variations on the leader locations? Post below!

Ahmad al-Mansur - Oasis in Morocco
Alexander - Achaia
Askia - Djenné
Attila - His camp
Augustus Caesar - Imperial Palace
Bismarck - Stadtschloss
Boudica - Castle Law
Casimir III - Polish dungeon
Catherine - Hermitage Museum
Dido - Tyre, not Carthage
Elizabeth I - Westminster, not London
Genghis Khan - Mongolian steppes
Gustav Adolf - Stromsholm Palace
Haile Selassie - National Palace
Harald Bluetooth - Denmark Strait
Hiawatha - Onondaga
Kamehameha - Maui
Maria I - Ribeira Palace
Maria Theresia - Swiss Alps, not Austria
Moctezuma II - Pyramid of the Sun
Napoleon Bonaparte - Austerlitz, not Waterloo
Nebuchadnezzar II - Ziggurat
Oda Nobunaga - Honshu
Pakal - Temple of the Inscriptions
Pedro II - Rio de Janeiro
Pocatello - Channeled Scablands
Ramesses II - Thebes
Sejong - Gyeongbokgung Palace
Shaka - Ulundi
Suleiman - Blue Mosque
Theodora - Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant's The Empress Theodora at the Colosseum
Washington - Mount Vernon
Willem van Oranje - Johannes Vermeer's The Geographer

Suleiman at the Blue Mosque doesn't make sense, since it was built after his time.

It's probably an approximation of the 'Kubbealti' where the Imperial Council (though not, I believe the Emperor himself) met, in Topkapi Palace.

I've done some research and here's where I think the leaders are,

Ahmad al-Mansur-Moroccan desert near Fes

Alexander-Thessaly, with Mt. Olympus in the background

Ashurbanipal-Royal Library, Nineveh

Askia-Djenne

Attila-Attila's court

Augustus-House of Augustus, Palatine Hill, Rome

Boudicca-East Anglia (have no idea what else to call this area other than land of the Iceni)

Casimir III-Wawel Castle

Catherine-Catherine Palace's Ballroom (it's a real palace near St. Petersburg)

Darius-Apadana, Persepolis

Dido-Carthage, (her being at Tyre makes little sense, also I hear construction noise in the background, so Carthage is prolly being built)

Elizabeth I-Westminster Old Palace, Richmond Palace or Palace of Whitehall (I can't figure out which one)

Enrico Dandolo-Venice (possibly the Grand Canal)

Gajah Mada- Wringin Lowung, Trowulan

Genghis Khan-Mongolian steppes, perhaps the Khentii region where Temujin grew up

George Washington-Mount Vernon, President's House, Philadelphia, Alexander Macomb House or Samuel Osgood House, NYC,

Gustavus Adolphus-Stromsholm Palace

Haile Selassie-Guenete Leul Palace, Addis Ababa

Harald Bluetooth-North Sea or Skagerrak

Harun al-Rashid-Golden Gate Palace, Baghdad, or Ar-Raqqah (Harun moved his residence here)

Hiawatha-council meeting place, Onondaga (whose location changed many times)

Kamehameha-Kamakahonu

Mahatma Gandhi-Dandi beach, Gujarat (location of Salt march) or Narmada river mouth

Maria I-Ribeira Palace, Lisbon (destroyed before her reign in an earthquake), Pena National Palace (was actually used after) Queluz Nat. Palace, Sintra Nat. Palace, Belem Palace, the architecture strongly resembles Pena, but the actual place is not close to the ocean and red cliffs

Maria Theresa-Hohenwerfen Castle, Ambras Castle, Kufstein Fortress, all have mountainous backgrounds

Montezuma I-Palace or Templo Mayor, Tenochtitlan

Napoleon-Austerlitz, Moravia (funny how Nappy isn't really in France)

Nebuchadnezzar II-Etemenanki, Esagila or royal Palace of Babylon

Oda Nobunaga-Battlefield of Okehazama, Owari Province

Otto von Bismarck-Reich Chancellery, Berlin

Pacal-Palenque (Temple of the Inscriptions, his tomb wasn't completed in his reign)

Pachacuti-Machu Picchu

Pedro II-Paco de Sao Cristovao or Paco Imperial (his workplace), Rio de Janeiro (figure me for not putting the accent marks ;))

Pocatello-Utah, where the chief lived for most of his life

Ramesses II- Pirammesses or Thebes

Ramkhamhaeng-Sukhothai

Sejong-Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul

Shaka-Bulawayo

Suleiman-Topkapi Palace, Istanbul, though some of the architecture resembles the interior of the Suleymaniye Mosque

Theodora-Great Palace of Constantinople

William of Orange-Prinsenhof, Delft

Wu Zetian-Daming Palace, Chang'an

Nice thread. I heard somewhere that these backgrounds should have been filled with other people (dancers with Catherine, courtisans with Lizzies, officers with Bismarck, etc) following the first artworks.

Not sure about the dancers. But Elizabeth's concept art had ladies-in-waiting and a bearded advisor. Never seen Bismarck concept.

Seems to be spot on to me. That must have took a lot of dedication!

I'm interested in the background of Maria (Portugal). Pena Palace has the row of windows/arches, but doesn't have water that close to it. It looks like the Tagus instead, so it'd have to be somewhere in Lisbon, not Sintra.

Suleiman is in the Dome of the rock in Jerusalem. If you look at photographs of the temple's interior you will see that it's identical to where Suleiman is.

I believe the background is a composite of various Portuguese elements (Pena Palace arches, red cliffs, naus in the Ocean)
