By the way, this thread is entitled "Where are you?" But the poll asks "where are you from?" There's a difference...
Yeah I noticed that too. "North America - USA" and "Europe - United Kingdom" in that order.

I refuse to participate in this poll since it is biased towards a few countries (USA, Canada, UK , Russia have their own categories whereas Western Europe is used for so many countries?).
Also, Okinawa is listed as if it is a country. You might as well list Alaska and Quebec as countries too.

You're right. It is. Perhaps it's a way of pretending a cultural dominance that has never existed. You can guarantee that whatever concerns the average American, 95% of the world will never care. :p

You are more than welcome to create a poll of your own that meets your completely objective demands.

Folks. This was fun poll, done on the fly, to get a sense of how our common love for Civ is international; it was not meant to be platform for anyone's petty nationalism - please leave that at home. It was not an attempt to bash or exclude anyone; so please don't turn it into bash of other nationalities. There are 200 distinct political entities in the work - of course some were going to get missed or fall into grey areas.

Looks like someone got their tinfoil hat on too tight.

The terms selected were on the geographic and criteria NOT nationalism. Hence a lot of the breakdowns are based more on geography.

The countries list was meant to be a GUIDE not an absolute list of countries to give geographic frame of reference that was easily recognizable. It wasnt meant to be all inclusive lists. Admittedly some terms could have been clearer, but I would wager someone in the peanut gallery would have an issue with ANY list created.

I freely admit some regions were condensed as I didn't anticipate a huge need for a breakdown as those markets for PC games were likely small. My attempt was to make a guess of what the more distinct games MARKET may be. I was pleasantly surprised to see the global extent.

let's get real we are playing an abstract game forum about playing civs and conquering/dominating the world and some folks want to whine about national determinism. Ironic.

Just Chill.

Oh no I wasn't offended at all, sorry if it sounded like that. I hoped the wink indicated the non-serious nature of the comment but I guess its sometimes hard to convey what your saying and how you mean it with just text on a screen, indeed -such is life.

No problem. But some folks may get there feathers in ruffle. I didnt want to inject politics. This was about bringing us together as community not drawing lines of division. :D

So... Singapore?

I am from Taiwan, currently working in China. It's nice to know the diversity of regions of this wonderful community. People can share the same hobbie regardless their nationality.

Nepal.

You totally should have included Nepal and Bangaldesh to India Region. And called India Region, 'the Indian Subcontinent', the neighbors are really very sensitive to these sorts of things ;).

True that! Indian subcontinent is the correct term! :)

BTW - it's kinda funny that the two people from the indian subcontinent are actually from two of the smallest contries in the region  (Nepal & Sri Lanka)

PS - The fact that you mentioned Sri Lanka by name makes me happy enough though :D (Most americans dont even seem to know we exist)

Haha yeah now we just need someone to post from Bhutan or something. But Sri Lanka sounds sooo nice, I really want to go there. Maybe on some sports team with my school :)
