Where does civilization draw the line?

This is what I mean. You're making very subjective assumptions. Such as: continual fighting is bad, that technology is a problem, etc....

Where do we stand? In relation to what?

Death of people isn't bad? Current technology could lead to the rule of tyrannies again, without checks and balances it certainly will.

In relation to our morals, end game morals. Where do you stand?

Btw guys, you could pick apart any discussion that tries to stay subjective as I have done here. This is all subjective, everything is really anyways, just try to play along eh? I didn't think this would be this much of a nightmare, and at this point Idk if you messing with me or just trying to get the thread closed again.

Where did I say "death of people" is bad? Why current technology? We had tyrants when advanced technology was fire and the wheel was still a square. What does technology have to do with it?

Governments are not moral agents. Why do you think there's an endgame? What defines the endgame?

Technology puts dictators in the position where information they can gather is much greater than ever before. It also allows for sheer domination through force, yes this was alwasy possible but now it is even easier for a government to sustain.

To the contrary governments are moral agents, the UN is the supreme moral agent. End game? The birth of a weapon that not only can end all human life but even the cockroaches was the start of endgame. How do we globalize our lowest standards and not destroy the earth doing so?

The thread wants to know what are your lowest standards for civilization, and what would you do to enforce these standards. To say that governments are not moral agents is blind.

Ah, the comedy option!

Ok, I get it now. GL

Are you trying to say that governments aren't moral agents? That they do not have standards and do not try to export such standards?

Btw, don't flame me man, I've tried to be curteous and word this in such a way that you will actually respond, since you seem unable to do so, just stop posting please.

They have standards, but they do not operate on a basis of morality per se. At any rate, since I'm blind, I'll just bow out and we can part ways on this thread amicably.

easy, a little sarcasm =/= a flame. that's why I edited out my comments before you posted, I realized they may be taken wrong.

At any rate, apologies if I offended you. Cheers-

FWIW, I thought you had the kernel of a good thread here and was asking questions to that end, w/ good intentions, save my 1 sarcastic comment.

kk, I'm sure this managed to close this thread anyways. I would really like to hear people's opinions regarding the original questions though.
