Where's the ban?!

I agree with ming, this thread is about an innocent poster being banned. ;)

Hey TF... He might not be watching it at this exact second, but I've seen him lurking in this forum often while making my posts.

He probably would indeed be posting in this thread, but "somebody" suggested to him that it wouldn't really help matters if he did... and that others would fight the good fight for him ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

do wah ming? ;)

I'm sure there are a number of people like myself following this thread to see how CFC resolves the situation of an innocent poster being banned.

So far, I have to say, it isnt too impressive a showing.

Since TF has no technical means of investigation to use, whether or not it goes anywhere is up to whoever pushed the button.

I'm not suggesting he has - but he has the means to ask each mod in turn and to require them to make a publi denial. Either there is a technical fault or a mod is not coming clean.

Either way, there doesnt seem to be the will to resolve the situation and that doesnt create an atmosphere of confidence, does it?

Well, I look at it like this, when someone gets it for a reason, the complaint thread is short. Can't remember one going this long. I'd blame it on one of the crashes and hope it doesn't happen again.

I'm disappointed in the responses to Chokegate and I'm disappointed by the trivialising responses.

Its not about an individual case - its about the system and the way it works.

Qui custodiet ipsos custodies?

No it isn't. It's about ONE mod completely violating the system. ;)

I'll assure you that wouldn't help in the least. ;)

Have you ever heard the quote "where there's a will, there's a way"?......well it's full of crap. Our current settings don't allow extensive moderator activity logging. TF would have to hook all the mods up to polygraph machines and hope to find answers if no one comes clean. The only thing possible is to hope someone comes clean. TF has done all he can. ;)

If there's a moral to the story, here it is:

If you feel like you were banned unfairly, PM TF for pete's sakes! Don't wait over a week to respond just e-mail or PM the authority(TF) and let him take care of it.;)

What good would a public denial do? If the Mod did it and hasn't come forward with it, do you think they would hesitate to give a public denial?

You want TF to tell each Mod that they can't do their job until someone comes forward? There's basically no way of knowing who did it. We can have two main assumtions. One, it was an accident. Two, it wasn't an accident. How can we prove it was one way and not the other?

There's not much more we can do with it. All I can hope is that all us Mods will be more careful when making bans, intentional or not. Like TF has already mentioned, the new version of software may allow tracking of things like this, but without it in place right now, there's nothing else we can do. There's a great will to get it resolved, but what more can we do?

I mean really Col! bah!

DoM sums it up pretty well. If it was an accident... it was an accident. If a mod did it, and doesn't have guts to stand for their actions... there is nothing that can be done about it. It's unfortunate that in the future, charges that mods are abusing their powers will have some basis of validity because of situations like this one.

That's the way it is...

If discussions like this one can keep it from happening again... that would be nice... *dream on Ming*

I didn't really expect somebody who was gutless enough to ban somebody in this fashion to actually stand up and admit it.

Maybe it was an accident... yeah... right... sigh...
