Which Civs are your Nemesis??

Before Conquests, I didn't notice any one Civ being a huge thorn. By the way, turn off culturally linked starting positions to get a wider variety of opponents (and to defeat the American civ "bug"). But now I have an enemy that is truly the worse. The Inca!! If they start on your continent, you have to kill them early or they will ruin you. And if they start on a different continent, they will kill everyone there and become so strong that they will almost definately win by space race. I hate them.

My nemesis are the Romans. That is because I always choose either Greeks or Byzantines and they are ALWAYS my neighbors. And because I choose archipelago,I wipe them out as soon as I can.The same for Egyptians.

The Zulu, whenever I start off next to these guys they ALWAYS demand stuff and go to war with me for no reason. But they are also the usually the first nation to get wiped out.

Natural dislikings for:

Japan
Mongols
Germans (i did like them but they were found to be too easily annoyed and agressive)
Zululand
Aztec
Maya
Carthage
Persia
Portugal
Celts

Likes:
Korea
India
Iriquois (sp-ck)
France
Spain
(not saying im not willing to fight these guys either)

Zulu are really that hated? They've never been close to a threat in like 8/10 of my games. The civs that seem to always cause trouble are the Inca, and the portuguese. The portuguese get wonders galore, which piss me off, and they reasonably have a good territory. The inca on the other hand are always a huge problem(or almost, one or 2 games they we're nearly non existant), there nearly always the biggest civ.

Great story :) In my very first civ3 game, I'd managed to conquer a very strong and strategically important Babylonian city after losing at least a dozen units in the advance and counter-attacks. Once I won, I packed about 10 units into that city to safeguard it. Then it went into resistance anyway and flipped back to the Babylonians. Lost my entire army including several elite units. I quit the game at that point (it was either that or put my fist into the montor).

It's the Babylonians for me, too. They always seem to have lots of culture and tech, but a large army, too. And they're not afraid to use it . But mostly it was one experience in my first Emperor game that makes me dislike them. It was me, France, and Bablylon on one continent, with Babylon right in the middle. They hemmed me in quickly, and then conquered France, so at the end of the ancinet age, the continent was about four fifths Babylon, and one fifth me. They had me beat in every way, and even had the audacity to reject a city of mine that flipped to them! Then they attacked me, their knights against my ancient army. The last straw was when my heavily fortified (on a hill, with walls and most of my spearmen) iron city flipped to them. And now I hate Babylon. :D

The Koreans are always a small nation but get way ahead in tech in industrial, have a lot of gold, and never trade. I also hate the Aztecs.

I'm sure it's already been said but "The only good civ is a dead civ" :ar15:

Turn off culturally-linked start locations and all of your problems will be solved. The Byzantines, the Romans, and the Greeks are in the same culture group (Mediterranean).

As for my worst enemies...in all but one game the Iriquois have caused me problems, but in that game they were way ahead of me anyway, and they probably would've turned against me once our enemy (the Inca) was dead. The Inca are another one of my worst enemies (but in the game where the Iriquois kicked my ass for the first time, I was the Inca...go figure).

Carthage has caused me tremendous problems in the few games I've played with them. The Persians and the Babylonians cause me problems as well, always expanding and going to war (although in my latest game both died). The Zulu are only a mild irritation to me. In every game I've ever played they've died, but that's because they've gotten into war with everybody. The English always expand like crazy and dominate everyone in my games. Although they've never caused me real problems, they always hate me for no reason anyway.

I have problems with the Inca if they get a good start postion, but that dosn't happen often as I usually play as them :D The Aztec are always a thorn in my side as are the Germans, as others have mentioned, VERY aggressive and they don't seem to know when to quit.... This may sound interesting but the Sumerians always grow VERY large and build lots of wonders in my games, and I can have them down to two cities and they will still hold out, no tech, no city, no gold, very stubborn :) the Zulu arn't so much a threat as an anoyance, they constantly demand things, I will usually refuse as they end up in a horrible postion usually, the Dutch get very large empires but are never really a threat after Swiss Mercs have outlived there shelf life, then I annex there lands  or atleast I try to...:spear:

Top Five Most hated:
1) Persia - extra techs, immortals, and a hair-trigger temper makes Xerxes a problematic neighbour.
2) Zulu - although they are usually behind in everything, Shaka likes to launch untimely sneak attacks and make outrageous demands.
3) Inca - too damn powerful at the start (I always seem to start next to them).
4) Babylon - Hammy is so arrogant that I want to smack him (repeatedly).
5) Germany - that upitty pompous fool damanded what!?

The English(!) always seem to overperform in my games. The Dutch , Zulus and Sumerians are also usually powerhouse civs.

If my neighbor is Egypt and I build first the pyramids than i can't prevent a war with them ...
Now seriously I hate very much the Egyptians and Zulus  they often declare war to me (i usualy play as the mayans) i don't know why and the germans too but in around 500 AD all civs declare war to the germans and 20-30 turns later they are destroyed.

I play the Celts exclusively and I destroy the French on sight. (It's personal....). I'm not real fond of the Zulus either.

Dangerous civs included:
Sumerians - Tough UUs early in the game, expand really fast + cultural rate.
Germans - Highly aggressive, concentrate on research and early wars.
Zululand - Highly aggressice, Annoying UUs.
Mongols - Murderous tryant, like Nelson Muntz. (HA HA!!)
Persians - Devastating UUs.
Greece - Annoying geek, like Martian Prince who wants to fight dirty with their purely, cheap resourceless defensive UUs.
Russia - Nasty habit of expanding territory along with scientific research.
France - Somewhat always ahead of cultural ratio, dangerous UUs.
Mayans - #1! in expanding most of their territory, enslaving is their fuel for expansion.
Egypt - Improves terraform faster, builds cultural improve quicker, raid our town with their dirt cheap UUs quicker than ours.

I DISPISE the MAYA, INCA and AZTEC Civs for one reason only, whenever i do a random civ game, 2 of them show up in every game, and they start right near me no matter what rules we are playing under.

(Wow and can u believe i completed the mEsoamerica and Age Of Discovery Conquests with these civs lol)

:D :rotfl:  . I like to play as Celts also ;) . When I first started
playing civ my buddy would always play as Germans. The first time I looked
at one of his games his cities were named 'I HATE FRANCE', F*** France,
Nuke France, etc.... Needless to say I have watched them closely since :scan: . I have found lately with C3C that whichever civ is an AI
opponent, they become my new nemesis, in need of :hammer: .

In civ2, my most hated civ is USA, because of traits they have in real life (impatient religious zealots, for one)

, and because of a bad experience i had with them in civ2. In that game, a scenario I created with civ-specific units, wonders, and techs designed to make me, President of the Plutonian Empire, far superior to anyone (of the ai's of course). Once I met them about midway through the game (on earth map on deity level), they immediately demanded one of my civ-specific tech, and I refused. Naturally, they declared war. eventually they managed to beat my peace-loving Plutonian Empire (aztecs replaced, because I like Aztecs) to just two cities. I quit the game because I knew that I was dead meat in that game. It was also because i don't know how to use a military, so I compensate for it by using super-units.

In civ3, USA generally has a better attitude, and yes, I use civ-specific super units and replaced aztecs with PlutoEmp in civ3 as well, with agression level at lowest. But their (usa) better attitude is possibly because i'm still playing at lower difficulty levels. I also tend to get along with the chinese. But so far, my least desirable civ3 opponent is still to be discovered, possibly because i'm still relatively new to civ3.
