Have played only Mesopotamia, Age of Discovery, and am currently playing Rise of Rome. I like them all!! Here's a breakdown of who I played and the strategy I used:

Mesopotamia: Played as Phoenecians. Centrally located great for making contact and trading tech early. Ally with Babylon then spank the Hittites and Sumerians. Oh yeah, and don't piss off the Egyptians. Build wonders fast and win.

Age of Discovery: Played as Incas. Remember you're going for cultural victory in one city, so this conquest is all about capturing/enslaving workers and sacrificing them in your capital. Build culture in capital and build defensive units in a couple other cities to hold of the conquistadors/musketmen/whatever. I actually lost the first time I played this because I tried to expand too far. (Conquistadors are tough to beat!) Better to focus attention and build good defense in only a few cities. Then pick off easier units, hope for enslavement, and then let the blood flow down the altar for a tight cultural win.

Rise of Rome: Playing as Carthaginians. Hannibal + Army of Elite Elephants = 18 Hps worth of Fast moving Roman butt-kicking. Managed to decimate Rome's stack of 25+ Legion IIs and IIIs in the mountains of Northern Spain with 2 elephant armies and about 10 elite elephants. (6.5.1's vs. 4.2.2's) Elephants retreat before dying, so with judicious use of road pillaging and retreating to heal in barracks, you can keep hitting their stack at full strength while they are moving one square at a time. I think the AI was overconfident in the strength of the stack since sometimes it moved to grasslands or plains. If I was Rome, I'd stay in the mountains. Pretty fun though, to beat a superior force with your unique units and good tactics. Unfortunately, Persia has it too easy and now I'm in the middle of crushing through Egypt with my second force so I can wipe a few Persian cities out. They are just ahead of me in pop% and area% and they never have to fight the Romans! Luckily with all the fighting, I've generated four GLs/armies. Hope to pull this one out in the end. :)

Next up, Fall of Rome...

1-They aren't Conquests, they are scenerios
2-Not all people have those
3- Hold on, I forget... :wallbash:

Forgive my ignorance, it's genetic. What mods are we referring to?

My favorite conquest is the Rise of Rome because I have a rather large soft spot for legionaries and beating the living daylights out of the celts and carthaginians. :D

My second favorite scenario is the Sengoku one because occasionally like playing one a small map with lots of peopl eso you can start huge wars that span almost the entire continent. :nuke:

My least favorite one is one with the european civs in the top right corner and the mayans, aztecs and stuff who are on the american continent. :vomit: ( I think it is the Middle ages one).

it the age of discovery you'r talking about

I like very much the Napoleonic War conquest.
I also like the Middle Ages, cause is very historical, but the napoleonic allows you to take a worse civilization , like i've taken the spanish one, and make it powerful, even conquer part of France.
The Rise of Rome is not bad, but maybe is very early beginning...
Any way, all the scenarios are great and very funny.

I found mesopotamia too easy as the sumerians. You just romped through the enemy with the enkidu warriors. Anyone else agree?

Yes, I agree. I have played it at Regent, had a huge tech lead and 2 SGL's (I used the first to build ToA), expanded like crazy (ToA helped a lot!), no other civ managed to build any of the Great Wonders, took most of Babylon and the game ended after I got 6 of 7 wonders.

Rise of Rome as Romans - quite easy. The most difficult thing was to conquer Carthage, then I took Teutons and Celts and when I went after Macedonians, I achieved domination victory.

Now I play Mesoamerica. I took Moche, removed Mayans and IIRC Olmecs from South America, built a few wonders and I am going to win by culture (my only altar is in Cuzco, I pump it with slave workers and it has more than 1900 CP now). Other civs are much behind in techs, Silent Warriors rock!

Best regards,

Slawomir Stachniewicz.

I've played only Mesopotamia, and am now playing Rise of Rome. I played Mespo twice -- it seems building away at wonders just wins the game prretty easily (I played on Monarch).

Its my first game of Rise of Rome and it ROCKS!! The most fun I've had so far with Civ.

Everyone should start a random map game of a size most closely resembling the conquest map they are about to play and then start the conquest. This sets the OCN and tech rate properly. See my sig about the world size bug.

Baah...I still think Mesoamerica (or Discovery) is best. Ye shan't break me, laddies...

So it is Phillipe so it is now I feel kinda  , because I playciv a lot and you would expect me to know which conquest is which :wallbash:
Now back to my schoolwork :(

its all about the Native Americans and their struggle to see who the finest warriors were in the Americas, i definitly vote Mesoamerica, and i also vote Age of Discovery, i always play as the Aztecs because they were the #1 civ in North America and i kick a$$ with them!

I perfer the Mesoamerica one the most. I tried a few others but keep going back to that one. Could be because I tested that with Breakaway games. Been addicted to it ever since trying to win with every possible race. :D

I loves me a bit of the Napoleonic wars, personally. It feels like you're playing a game of 'Diplomacy' against the computer. I love this kind of period in the main game, also, with the age of sail and cavalry/rifleman/cannon-based tactics. I usually play as anyone but France, to see how well the other nations handle them. Personal favourites are Prussia and Austria, though Britain's fun, too.
