Older players are less likely to use the net effectively.
Rash words young whipper-snapper. Age has little to do with it. :rolleyes:

Actually, Al Gore was born in the 40's. :) :D

These young pipsqueaks just don't get proper edumacation anymore. ;)

Oh yeah? 2+(9,4}-67(396,89}=?? {answer, corectly}

Also, were getting algebra 1 in 8th grade! We even got to the 'square rought of' stuff, finding missing numbers in two simmilar triangles, and we are getting past like fractions.{sorry, this last term never existed. Wasn't thinking with that one}

R.B., have you got your flameproof suit on ? Please answer the following questions for me, if you'd be so kind.
1. Is the comma in common American use instead of the decimal point ? I know that it is in much of Europe, but not here in England.
2. Is the use of a calculator permitted ?
3. I regret that, being English, I do not know what age group "8th grade" covers. Please enlighten me so that I may make comparison with my own first contact with algebra.
4. Please be aware of the right way to spell "correctly" , "similar" and "root" (as in "square root").
5. What is a "like fraction" ?

Yes, I know I'm an evil and ancient pedant, but to raise the subject of education it is best to be educated, at least to a level appropriate to one's age. Am I right in assuming that you are indeed somewhat youthful ?

Assuming that the answer to questions 1 and 2 is "yes", then I get an answer to your arithmetical question of -26,580.23 using English conventional separators.

1: no, I was using it to indicate two seperate numbers, sorry if there was something else useable{sorry, a space did not occur to me at that time, should it have been an option}
2: no, calculators would be considered cheating if you could just as easily write it down on paper. Make it two plus two, why don't you, if your going to use a calculator!
3:13 going on 14, basically about to attend high school as freshman.
4: Don't be such a Grammar nazi!:rolleyes: Well, actually, I'm sorry about the square root part, and the similar part.
5: Sorry, typed something that I shouldn't have typed. Basicaly what I meant was the same as simmilar triangles/shapes{excluding strait lines}
P.S. No, I have no flame-proof suits:rolleyes: . Also, why don't YOU type me a algebraic question? I won't use a calculator either, because I left mine in my school locker.

Cyber Fight? I thought it was a mere test of mathematical knowledge having something to do with wich age group isn't a bunch of ill-educated pipsqueaks of young age?
Sorry if this is off-topic from the thread.

It wasn't a declaration of what was happening, more a hope of what it could become

And by the looks of it, this topic is off-topic anyway, or is at least heading that way (with our assistance, of course)

9/100 or 9/10000000000000000000000000000. Never failed a single subject, and i'm the same decade as you, so HA!! Excuse me for rudeness and/or spaminess. Oh, and is it just me, or are kids today starting to learn stuff thaat the 80's people learned in High-school?

Tsk.

I first had algebra at 11 yrs old (7th grade), then took more advanced maths finishing with Calculus and Linear Algebra in college (in the 70s). Since then, I have had very little need to use anything other than basic arithmetic and simple algebra to meet life's everyday needs. Even in my career as a computer systems analyst/programmer.

And lets please not continue the off-topic discussion, or I'll have to pull out my big pointy stick and deal with it most unpleasantly.

I'm not sure what the point is. Its pretty proven that teenages and college aged kids use the internet much more than older folks. Thats not a knock on anyones intelligence, just a fact of life.

Anecdotal evidence shows that those under the age of thirty will make many more unfounded assertions and claim them as fact than those who are older and wiser. :p

Now if you make the same claim for game boys and cell phones I will concede the point.

Or you just take more notice of the annoying teens and college aged people.
