Is the forum a good approximation of players or fanatics? :)

Fanatics. Or more explicitly, Fanatics who also join internet forums.

Figure that each registered member here counts as ~100 actual players. Figure that each regular poster might count for a thousand or more. You might say we are the crème de la crème of Civ players.

OTOH, being fanatics, we do not truly represent the average Civ player. We are more passionate about the game. We discuss minutia that the average player cares nothing about, if he/she even notices it.

 But be careful what you say about those of us born in the nineties!

What're ya gonna do 'bout it? Put down your IPhones and, like, whatever at us? :)

I don't own an iPhone. :mischief:

Or a mobile for that matter...

:bump:

Three thousand and three is might fine,
But this thread's been missing for quite some time;
So mark your place in our distribution,
Five thousand names is our resolution.

1993, even though I listen to... well, 1890-1920 music :D
I'm surprised that the 1980's generation is so active in Civ... I would've expected people in their late 30's... the 20's I know are all more interested in constant shooters and car-robbery games :vomit:.

1993. My dad (from the 50s) might have played Civ II once, I found the disc buried in with a bunch of technical stuff in the basement, but I'm not sure. I'm a Civ IV person myself...

Wait... do we seriously have 10-year-olds on here, or did people just vote that as a joke?

Yes, there are some kids around here; they're pretty bright too.

If you're a fanatic about a game revolving around history, more or less, chances are you're not in the dumb crowd.

I started playing Civ and posting on the forums when I was 14 years old... that was more than 8 years ago now. And I've known several young posters at this site, including one who was 11. So it wouldn't surprise me that we have a few in the 10-and-under category around here. :)

My son just turned 10 and plays CivIV everyday. (Makes a Dad proud). He saw me perusing this site and now wants to learn how to mod. (too bad I don't know how)

Anyway, I put a vote in for my decade (1972) and can't vote twice. Unofficially count him as lucky #13 (2000 and younger).

You're from the future? April 2004 was almost 6 years ago.
Heh... not quite. I didn't say this forum, just "the forums". ;) The first Civ forum I joined was in January 2002, and was not this forum. I'd actually checked out this forum around the same time, and lurked occasionally, but didn't get around to joining CFC until over 2 years later.

Guess I must have figured at the time that I shouldn't join too many forums at once, else I'd waste too much time or something. ;)

Hmm, so much for that nowadays... :mischief:
