Which game is more fun: RTW or M2TW?

I've definitely noticed before Kingdoms that my billmen and dismounted English knights were pretty sucky. Haven't played a grand campaign yet though since installing Kingdoms so I don't know if it's fixed. But yeah that animation drove me nuts.

I wouldn't say gobs and gobs of dismounted chivalric knights vs peasants wouldn't change a thing. It's not as pronounced a bonus that peasants would defeat them, but it's enough that you're gonna suffer casualties. That's where I ran into problems at first, using enough units so that I would succeed if it was RTW, and finding out that slightly inferior infantry defending a wall can beat my slightly superior infantry.

There's also the fact that you'll have towers firing at your units while they're on the walls, and the only way to stop it is to rout the enemy units there. That tower damage really adds up in M2's prolonged fights where soldiers in the rear of a unit refuse to move up and fight until someone in front of them dies, even if there's lots of room.

i have both and Medieval II Total war is a lot better than Rome, better factions, better battles, graphics are outstanding and more.
If you have a computer which can handle Medieval II all the way well go get this one you won't be disappointed, I bought this game when it was released and I still play with it..

I prefer strongly Rome Total War for the simple reason that i am more interested in the various roman eras of history as a setting than i am by the medieval ages (MTW1/MTW2) , sengoku period (Shogun) or the 18th century (Empire).

That's the difficulty when talking about comparing the Total War games to define which one is the "best", because due the extremely different time setting/background of most of them, your own historical period preference will always lead you to a specific title more than another, regardless how old it is.

M2 had a good system like scenarios, but I like RTW better for EB.

Only reason I would play M2 would be for the multi player campaigns for kingdoms.
