Last thread I promise for tonight by me about this stuff....

Of these two options which is the Right thing to do?

Option 1.Saving a hundred strangers (who are good people, families, women and children and hardworking good guys etc.) at the expense of the ten people you know and like, care about

or

Option 2. Saving ten people you know and like, a few siblings, close friends, etc. at the expense of 1000 strangers

Now, this is not a which would you do per se thread, but a, which do you think is the Right and Moral thing to do?

"Right and Moral" things to do are stupid because they are black and white and are also presented frequently in hypothetical situations that force you to choose the one that is "right and moral." ;)

As for me, I would definitely choose the one that would benefit me more; Option B. Hundreds of thousands of strangers die everyday anyway.

The shades of gray say that neither is right or wrong, but when you have to make a choice, you're not making that choice because its the 'neutrel' thing to do, you're making it because the reasons for that choice are better than the reasons for any other grey shaded option you have, which, if this is the case, makes that choice the right choice for you.

I would save ten people I knew.

I'd consider that the more moral choice since the people I know are probably do better things for the world than the strangers. Sounds arrogant but it's my belief.

K Narz, now let me put it this way - the good those ten you know would do, would be multiplied by ten if you saved the 1000. So its not a matter of who the better people are, the more moral crux to you here is which is right, the ten or the 1000? You know the ten, you dont know the 1000, but for hypotheticals sake, your ten are no better or worse than the 1000. The only distinction is their relationship to you.

Option 2, 1000 strangers are not of my concern, regardless of their well being.

I guess it depends if you will know about the strangers who died, and if their families will know it was you who is to blame for their deaths.

The only reprecussion is that of your conscience either way. No other harm, negativeness will befall you.

Option 1, although I doubt I'll ever be in such a scenario.

1000 people vs 10 is not a statistically significant portion of the world for me to care. I pick the people I like. a billion vs 10, now that's something to think about

The ten people that you know and are close to you have placed their trust in you for many years. To betray that trust would be immoral.

Option 1, if the people I liked or liked me were smart, they would understand.

Option 2. I couldn't live with myself if I let 10 people I was really close with die, a 1000 strangers I've never met dying won't keep me up at night.
