I'm amazed that I voted Venice, but reading about them now, I just gotta to play them over and over. It will be such great fun! :)

It seems like Brazil was made mostly to show off all the new BNW stuff. That's sad on one hand, because there's so much more to the country (though, with the culture/tourism stuff, I have to say culture IS the biggest export).

On the other hand, it makes it THE civ I want to use first.

Honorable mention:

Venice is really different and should be fun.

The Zulu will probably be my pick for domination victory. It seems they managed to give them an interesting style.

I normally really don't care at all for native american civs, and the Shoshone aren't different at all, but I can see myself using them effectively. To be fair, it depends a lot on how the scout works, exactly, and to some extent if it keeps it's ability on upgrade (ruin, archer...ruin, composite bowman...ruin, crossbowman....ruin, gatling gun...conquer, conquer, conquer), but the UA can change city placement to some extent, as well as help stealing some good tiles in the third ring. They might end up being a great early game civ.

Honestly, I've been drawn to Poland since it was first announced. I think I will play Poland first and Morocco or Portugal second.

Now we know the reason behind that odd choice of Maria for Portugal. She'll be the only woman among mostly bearded leaders.

Venice and Poland are kind of a dead heat for me, but Venice's enforced OCC approach tips it for me.

Man, this is a tricky one, both from liking civs because of their history and culture, or their in-game abilities. I do really like Morocco and Portugal still, but Venice and the Shoshone look very interesting gameplay-wise as well.

Indonesia ... Venice well I'm glad it doesn't suck quite as badly as feared. It sucks but not quite as badly.

I must be going crazy. I chose Shoshone. I don't care much about the rest of their abilities, but I want my super-scout right now!

Poland, their UA is strong (I mean a free SP at each new era!) and I love their UB. And of course Casimir is my favorite leader icon!

Shoshone, because I'm glad we got more North American native representation. Still a lot of progress to be made, but it's a step in the right direction.

Had to vote Poland, as we Polish fans have waited for it since like... Civ I. :)

I am very interested in Venice, though. Esp. the ability to purchase in puppeted cities suits my playstyle.

Bahhahaha! I mean their good to play against, but their a yawner as a civ to play

Honestly, I thought this poll would come up quicker, now that we have practically all the details of all the new civs. Let's see how Venice stands up against the rest.

I've done the past ones. I was waiting for the official announcement with screenshots and all that jazz so that we can have more fully rounded opinions.

Hmn... let me see:

1. Brazil: I'm particularly excited to see a Modern American civ aside from USA, and I like Pedro's screen and personality and their touristic-cultural focus.
2. Shoshone: Early exploration with not so random bonuses from ruins, fast expansion and Native American, they are nice, although I would prefer Washakie over Pocatello.
3. Indonesia: They seem like such a strange civ still, very ecclectic... It may be the first Asian civ I actually want to try so badly.
4. Venice: Although polemical, I like how they work out, may be interesting to try them out.
5. Poland: Social Policies and Hussar sound nice.
6. Portugal: Their UI sounds interesting, but otherwise I don't care so much for them.
7. Assyria: Sounds interesting, but don't fit my playstyle much.
8. Morocco: Sounds powerful with all that gold and the desert bonus, but I don't know, I don't really care for them...
9. Zulu: Will be nice enemies, but otherwise, well, they are mostly an AI flavor...

So I vote Brazil...

It's a bit of an illusion though. Zulu will be one lots of people play. These boards tend to contain less warmonger players so we gravitate towards the new game mechanics. For me Indonesia looks so hard that it is the most exciting. Venice has new mechanics but I remain so anti-Venice that most any reveal wasn't going to excite me (even though I actually predicted the mechanic of only being able to buy not settle)

For me they fall in three tiers based on what new stuff they bring to the game.

Top tier
Indonesia - forcing people to spread round to different landmasses makes for a new challenge and letting other cultures in rather than stopping those religions - totally new way of playing.
Morocco - At last someone uses Deserts. I'm intrigued to see how to adapt playing that way will play out.

2nd tier - some possibility for new ways to play
Shoshone - Looks a real good civ for novice players with it's Pathfinder. I'd be suggesting it to anyone who was just starting. I dont think they are new design wise though.
Portugal - using CS's in a new way, everything encourages peace rather than war.
Brazil - Let the Carnival begin. Intrigued how best to play them.
Poland - Euro "Mongols" but with those Social Policies - I can see them being popular with warmongers, Horse based civs always are.
Zulu - Melee based warmonger - lets see if the Impi promotions counters Archers a bit. I'm hoping they do because a actual useful walking Army rather than just Horses and Archers is something the game has long needed.
Venice - The mechanic is interesting - (they as a civ remain a lame choice). One for the hardcore players but in a different way to Indonesia.

3rd tier (Nothing new to see here)
Assyria (Angry Babylon) - I'm sorry Assyria fans but there is nothing in this design that feels fresh or new - it just seems like they have spliced some Hun DNA into Babylon.
