Ethiopia and Sweden are pretty well tied in my book, but... I guess I'll go with Sweden, I like fire....

I guess I'll just be the odd man out and say that overall I wasn't too impressed by the new leaders. There is something a little stiff and awkward about alot of their body movements, as oppose to the original civs who had quite a few subtle movements that made them see more life like. I haven't seen Theodora yet though; want atleast one leader screen to be a surprise! Any way, I voted Atilla. He just sounds like a general bad-a** to me.

I'm surprised you had that reaction, we had a thread a while back where we talked about how he was ripped straight out of Apocalypto; not to mention the whole "I have an apocalypse to prepare for" thing he says.

Yea I guess its just going to be one of those things. I saw it coming when I saw his leaderscreen for the first time I knew oh well wow this is pandering to the crowd. Of course people who know about Pacal a bit know the whole picture just looks odd. Everything from the poorly detailed city of Palenque to his ripped straight of Apocalypto Charicature.

But I knew it would be popular just by looking at it. I see more people have finally voted for Dido. When I voted, I was the first voter for Dido and there were 30 votes for Theodora.

I also like Ethiopia and Sweden's leaderscreens a ton too. Sweden's is very detailed and elegant as well. Haile Selassie appears very statesmen like and who can't love the palace he is in?

I personally liked Gustavus' one a lot. I guess I might be a bit biased since I'm Swedish myself, but even when trying to be objective, I really like the whole scene. The fireplace makes for an awesome backdrop, and having his own portrait on the wall is just so egoistically badass. :P

He also has the concept art of Maria Theresa on his wall if you didn't notice.

Attila just has the most awesome speech. Even when he speaks he tries to invade your ears with those rolling RRRRRRs.

I voted for Atilla. Especially cuz I love all the swords amd shields.

Regarding the other leaders, Dido's could've used more ambience, MT was ok as was Pacal. William's was nice, however him ignoring you will get old. GA was amazing, but Atilla was a little bit better I would buy Theodora's suducredd act, if she didn't have an armpit afro. But Boudicca takes 2nd

I'd vote for Attila as soon as someone can confirm that he's speaking a real language.

She was an actress, not a prostitute. Now there arguably wasn't much of a difference back then, but it's worth pointing out.

I'm going with Boudica. Mostly for the voice acting. I wouldn't want to mess with her!

My English teacher said the same thing about Shakespearean times. Pretty ironic, isn't it?

Yeah, I'd like to know what I am voting for.

Assuming it is the whole package now, I think I can safely vote for Willem. It's a really colorful scene, and he sounds cool too :goodjob:

Its the truth.I like all the backgrounds and all the rooms...but I really enjoy a leader out in the field and plus Boudica swings that sword:goodjob: and she looks much more realistic this time around since the days of Civ4...

I would have voted for Willem or Maria if it was based on voice skills...

Attila is the worst...His voice is weak and he doesn't look all that strong...kinda like a Genghis khan intro from Civ4...so yeah if they had put Attila on his horse and looking down at you like he is higher then you..then yes it would rule...but right now he appears like he is angry and...well thats fine, but he wasn't always pissed off or maybe he was...we'll never know:(

Theodora is the new Boudica/Catherine of Civ...lol:cool:

About the actress/prostitute thing? Yeah, there's a reason Shakespeare's theater didn't have women. The outrage from the growing Puritan movement would probably have gotten them imprisoned. IIRC, they actually got shut down for a couple of years.

I just looked over website for the original leader screens and it terrible! Half-complete and out of date. Although I gotta say Wu Zetan's busty look was way better.

I don't, actually. I think the palace looks really boring. But that's not the devs' fault...that's what the palace actually looks like.

Like the Swedish leaderscreen (but I still don't like his beard). I wonder if the voting would have been the same if more women played civ?

Edit: Hmm, and also some other certain popular leaderscreens.

Carthage is in my opinion beautiful, the crystal clear sky is amazing, at night, dido is very beautiful, and real beautiful, not a single bit of make up (at least it's hard to see any make-up), unlike Theodora, who's covered in make-up. I like Theodora alright, but it's just.. meh..

Personally I like the elegance of Maria Theresa and even though I hardly know German I always strain my non-European ears for words like "wilkommen". I would've wanted to know everything Napoleon said but honestly, French is really hard.

What I don't get is how everyone seems to like Theodora so much. I would've thought Dido if guys were really thinking with their gonads. No matter which angle I look Theodora seems...to be in her 50s. :p
