I have conquest as well. Which one is good or more advanced? Conquest or PTW (gold edition + PTW combo).

Thanks Much :king:

Here's the list on what order they came out:

Civilisation III
Civilisation III : Play the world
Civilisation III : Gold Edition
Civilisation III : Conquests

Since conquests contains PTW, if you have Conquests, then you are fully up-to-date :)

Actually what happened, first I bought Conquests and then when I was trying to install, it said first I need Civ. III installed on my machine to install Conquests. So I bought Gold Edition because it had both PTW & Civ. III.........

New version should never require previous old version......** Maharajs leaves angry **

Lemmy get this straight.

Civ 3 = Standalone
Civ 3 PTW = Expansion
Civ 3 Gold = Standalone (Civ 3 + PTW)
Civ 3 Conquests = Expansion (PTW + C3C)

?

You got it right. :)

For people w/o Civ3, the cheapest route is to get the standard Civ3 as cheap as possible (less than $10 on eBay) , then buy Civ3 Conquests and you have all of Civ3. Amazon.com used to offer C3C for $9.99 for a few months, but that was quiet a while ago...

Yeah, there is no reason to get PTW or Gold, because everything in them is included in vanilla and conquests

Btw Civ 4 is coming out also so all together it'll look something like this

1. Civ 1
2. Civ 2
3 Civ 2 Tot
4. Civ 3
5. Civ 3 Ptw
6. Civ 3 Gold edition
7. Civ 3 Conquests
8. Civ 4

Yeah, but isn't Civ4 still like... two or three years off? o_O

The first time I came across Gold Edition there was still a lot of plain civ3's around. Gold Edition was $48NZ, and plain civ3 was $70NZ. "Hmmm... the game AND expansion more than $20 less than just the game?" I thought.

I wonder if anyone bought the extra plain civ3's, or if they had to throw them out. ;) :D

Yes, I expect "over a year" before Civ4 is out. (Although I *do* know they are working on it. ;) )

I hope they spend as long as neccessary to get it right, and then release it. Most everyone is happy with PTW and/or C3C, so there is no point in rushing Civ4. I hope Jeff from Atari reads this, and they actually listen. I'm sure most fans would agree, a better game that you have to wait for is always going to be superior to a less optimum game that comes out sooner. I'm sure that the C3C patch business is enough of an example. Half-Life2 and Doom3 would be other good examples, where the game has been delayed to (hopefully) make it better upon release.

According to secret sources, Civ 4 will be released bundled with Duke Nukem Forever.
