Which to play first in C3C?

I'd pick iroquois, to be honest. You'd be familiar with it from vanilla/ptw and get used to the agri trait :) Besides - Iroquois has to be the best civ in the game.

First of all: :woohoo:

I'm not altogether too familiar with the changes from Vanilla to C3C, because I've never played Vanilla. With that caveat, I'd sure suggest trying something new from C3C. Lots of good suggestions have been given, but I think maybe the Iroquois? Agricultural is a new trait (& powerful) and I think they start with Alphabet, so you could give that Philosophy-freebie-tech a good run!

I rather thought you would be pleased that I am moving up in the CFC world.:lol::lol:

I was really tempted to try the Byzantines just for a complete change to the New World Order

This also means that I have to give up my "less corrupt" crutch... <<<sigh>>>

Oh, I am, darski!

The Byzantines wouldn't be a bad choice, either. Dromons with lethal bombard, Alphabet to start with . . . I'm not all that good with Dromons, but better players than myself have used them to impressive effect.

Don't think I'm a better player, but I've had fun with them on a 'pelago a few times. They're useful all the way until frigates, at least. and the bombard animation is one of the coolest things in the game :D

kk

Slave workers may work at half speed, but they don't cost upkeep. That makes javelin throwers very valuable for barb farming, long after they aren't of use versus civs. In my games as the Maya, I might end up with dozens of barbarian slaves and thus my empire will be better developed and have a stronger military (less worker upkeep). The Byzantines are another fun one, just be aware that the English always show up to backstab you. For some strange reason, England is always my great rival if I play as the Byzantines. The Dromon is a lovely unit, it can kill sea units with bombardment without the danger of losing hitpoints. Three Dromons can kill even a frigate, just be aware that they need to be in a harbor at the end of the turn. Frigates on the attack find dromons to be a tasty treat.

:lol::lol::lol:

That's all I need is for Liz to show up. although I can usual beat her in Vanilla I just can't play her

Just a quick question...

I am wondering if I can just save my various graphics files from Vanilla to paste into my new game... which should be here soon

I have great city graphics but are there more cultural groups in the expansions?

I know about my borders and my less yellow package but what about other stuff?

And then we have Empress Wu to deal with

Many of the files are shared with vanilla. It is an expansion, not a new game. You just might want to get different graphics files for some of the 'new' terrain types such as marsh, for example, but your current ones should be fine in their current location.

There are no new cultural groups so you are safe there as well.

I don't use that many different graphics files so there may be some exceptions though.

Empress Wu?

thank you for that quick reply. I should go and check my less yellow to see if Thunderfall did a Marsh add on

Empress Wu is my replacement leaderhead for China. It took me ages to get all the files in all the right places to get her in the game, on the screen and in the words on the screen

Just remember to back things up before adding mods, I added a mod that made the game crash and I had to re-install, which can be painful. It's going to be a project getting the game to look like you want it. That's why I don't mod things anymore, it's just too much work with all the trial and error associated.

Sorry I'm so late, I haven't been on this site for a while, but I'm wondering how you're getting on with this.
I don't think Thunderfall made an update to include less yellow marsh or less yellow volcanoes. I play with less yellow as well, but I still managed to have everything blend in perfectly. I use Snoopy marsh and volcanoes. Well, actually the marsh is a variation on Snoopy made by Pounder, called bayou marsh. But you can have it all looking perfectly in combination with less yellow, just try it.
