While We Wait: Part 2

That's because many NESers have this Clausewitzian idea that every war is a total war, which is of course really quite silly.

Aye yes. Though I'm sure if RL rulers, like NESers, didn't have to contend with restraints to their power and their nations internal politics, they would have gone for total war a lot more to too ;).

I just gave you those titles. Accept a little praise for once, Iggy. :)
Okay, okay, if you insist. ;)

I, on the other hand...:p
...have beaten me as a Greek rebellion multiple times. :p

Its from an obscure book

@Iggy: I agree with the others. Even though I haven't participated in LINES, it impresses me to no end. Furthermore, even though I have only played in one NES with you thusfar and not a lot in the way of warfare, backstabbing, etc. was given time to play out, you definately did not strike me as mediocre. You were a powerful player, if a bit more honest than some. Then again, I'm just a no-nothing newb
Was that ITNES?

LuckNES IV, hopefully. :p

To be honest though, Iggy is a rather average player; it is in moderating that he trully excels. That said, he is indeed a honourable ally (whether that is good or not), and his countries tend to be the nicest to live in; certainly better than mine or silver2039's. His rulers are simply nice, as opposed to power-mad maniacs, fanatical demagogues or ruthless manipulators most (not all) players tend to end up having, and that makes for a refreshing difference.
I'd have to say I agree with this a lot- though I wouldn't be too kind to my current updating reliability. I'm working on improving it.

OT: I'm considering setting up LINESII to have very simple orders, making the updates much easier. Thoughts?

*grumbles*

:p

Anyway, Iggy your rubbish.....

[turn to the dark side, consume yourself in your hunt for revenge!]

Seriously now, your an excellent mod, and the only real upsets I've seen is with the Ottomons, and well, tell me a NES where they don't go to heck.
DipNES03. :p

Very true. And if they didn't have to live through the guilt of leading so many of their countrymen to the death. I play my nations as IC as I can, to the best of my knowledge. This restricts my potential for warmongering, unless I'm a fanatical nation like Dashtaka from Harleqin's last NES.

Define "simple orders". Something tells me that unless you insist on a word-count, you'll still get long ones.

Oh, by the way... when's that restarting? Just curious. >_>

Ones from Nk.

*cue Dachs whining about his lack of IM leading to him losing*
That did play a part, though I think that better planning would certainly have helped. You see, I have this megalomaniacal tendency to obsess over The Plan...;)

The first time, I wasn't really a rebellion anymore, more of a backstabber, and the second time, you were on vacation (sort of), and I was also not a rebellion anymore then (instead, I had something like the third largest army and the best military leadership in Europe).

@NK- I'll post an example in the LINESII thread in a few days. I plan on a word or character limit (not including stats and words used to divide up the sections of the orders), along with a request of legibility, so people don't write everything as one word or compress it all into one illegible block.

EDIT: I'm going to be home in two weeks or so. It'll resume the second I get home.

I don't think it looks great.

I think I'll go back to a penguin avatar when I get back to the Yukon.

Well it would look better if it wasn't for that ludicrous 4 kb avatar limit. Can't even add my little favorite things from photoshop cause it adds kbs.

edit: back to the good old army moose

Ludicrous? This site would lag worse than IGN boards if you let users have 10kb limits on thier avatars and such :p

Nice to see the Moose back...

It may seem silly, and it is, but it was such a relief to go back to the otter after months of previewing maps for PureNES...

Switching avatars every few hundred posts is also awesome :D

I'm still trying to find an avatar that I really like that fits under the 4kb rules. Everyone that I like seems to be closer to 8kb which kinda stinks. Ah well the search continues.

I had to reduce the quality of my current Zerg avatar (I think it's a zergling, though given Blizzard's consistency at representing them, it's hard to tell. It could be some kind of new infantry) avatar to get it to work under the forum's rules.

Yeah, this forum needs a laxation in the avy standards so I can use soemthing like this
Kerrigan.gif

Im going to change my avatar soon, but to what?

The winner of NES will have that honoe I guess :p
