There will be no replacement for Spain in this NES. The native nations, in particular myself, have grown far too powerful for any nation to sweep in and create a giant Latin American empire like OTL Spain's.

Might I suggest changing stats as you go? As in, when a new player joins, add him/her into the stats? That's what I used to do, and it worked mightily fine for me.
