While We Wait: Part 4

Taking the metaphorical form of a prostitute is much easier when all you have to do is sit in a corner/on a ledge with your favorite shotgun/rocket launcher and blast those that walk by - this isn't a good thing.
I don't have a problem with camping per se, but in the way camping is usually executed. I for example, like the ramp and room section to the right of the elevator in Guardian (if you are facing away from the elevator), because it's a great place to prowl with the Shotgun and exposes you to way less chance of death than if you wander around the rest of the map, and you can snipe and grenade several areas. That's technically camping, but it's area control. A lot of campers are just spot control, and it's those people who suck.

Hell, you can even area control the Ops Center on The Pit instead of just hiding on a table. It makes people think they have a chance of taking the sword, and serves as a better lure.

My 44 in Lone Wolves is not due to being "stuck," but to having no chance to play since reaching there.
See for me, I think I've actually hit something of a plateau. The thing is, there's no way to "train" or "get better" except playing itself, so you have to fight your way through said plateau.

Oh, I'm not saying that there's anything "dishonorable" or whatever in camping, and I'll do it myself if I get a rocket or a shotgun thrown at me near a suitable area, but I don't think it's a very fun feature. And, indeed, when a person just sits around a corner next to a doorway, that really sucks.

If I had started level grinding when I first got Live, I probably would've plateued around 30. Instead, I ended up playing a lot of big team matches, social matches, and other stuff. I think that if you just keep on pounding on Lone Wolves, you might refine the specific skills needed to win at Lone Wolves, but it'd probably be more fun to play other gametypes for awhile, then come back with the skills to win at that level, to avoid getting burnt out. That's just a personal recommendation, though. :p

In other news, after playing a few more matches, perhaps 44 is more of a plateau for me than I had thought. I've gotten 2nd place in several matches in a row to no avail, and finished below 3rd in a few others, so I'm probably pretty close to breaking even among this crowd. Still, the promise of "Just one more level" is enough to keep my playing this playlist.

For the record, I am astounded at how late people ran in sending orders. It's as if we don't even want updates on time in this forum...

It is poor form I admit.

I know we shouldn't be in the position of chasing orders, but Beej offering bonus to those who send in early orders usually gets a good response from the majorty.

You can always send diplo their way and the mod will deal with it like a PC if you wanted

Yeah, but what do I do? I usually have one week deadlines, which I figure is short and yet long enough. Do I offer bonuses for sending three days before?

It stinks that more nations got NPCed. There's already a ton of NPCs. It'd be fun to have another actual player helping me out in the war with Thearak.

I've been told my NPCs are evil before, so maybe you do. :p

even offering something for simply getting them in on time might be enough! Or perhaps a day early.. im not sure. But even in my short modding experience I know how hard it can be to chase orders.

Beware Kal, he always plays a "bigger" game ;)

Xen, that was years ago, and I had forgotten all about him. Overall that forum was way to clichey for me and had too little actual content. Is it still going?

Yeah- I suspect it'll be around for a while, but its had its share of ups and downs in the last year. basically "scandals' you might call them, mainly between alot of the old CFC, Apolyton, and another forum or two veterans who went there as a water cooler, and alot of the women that switch invited over. Normally, women wouldnt be a problem- hell, I remember before sultan scared her off, that stripper I invited, eve, was a big hit all around. (not in the least because she was hot, I'm SURE... ;)) - but I'm not sure if you were there for that or not.

More or less switch is a 'big guy', and has a prefrence for 'big women'. And so he brought in a bunch of women from dating sites hes joined in the past, which in my opinion was a mistake. That forums appeal was that you could say what ever you wanted when ever you wanted, and it was the ultimate water cooler. The arrival of switches chicks signled an era where you could really say whatever you wanted, because it might offend them. this resulted in quite alot of . .. .. .. . being thrown around, that only started to die out recently. alot of people have felt alienated though, and have moved on. As long as sween, sultan, RIII, and especially Hitro still post there I cant see myself leaving...

but I think we need an infusion of new blood from the old recruiting grounds- but I'm out of the loop back here and wouldn't know who else would be appropriate over there, and of course, there is alot of expectation that I out do when I invited that eve chick. ;)

Evolution can be good if it doesn't lead to extinction. In any case, SE did have a nice variety of folks, even it there weren't too many of them. Is it still contentless?

As far as recruits, Fifty would probably love it if he didn't feel he was starting out too far down the totem pole.
