While We Wait: Part 4

It's not in the Bible, though. I think it comes from something called "The Acts of Pontius Pilate" or something like that.

Which is also responsible for such gems as Pilate's wife's name and the "harrowing of hell." It's an interesting work, and the Latin version is about as easy as honest-to-god Latin actually gets.

You mean, there are several of them? No, wait, forget that, I feel inspired...

Yes, according to 1 John 4:3: "even now there are become many Antichrists." However, he also uses the term to denote one principle antichrist, that is, Satan.

Just thought I would clear this up for those who do not know this:

The Romans never wanted Jesus killed, in fact they were trying to keep him alive by offering a known Jewish killer and Jesus and asking the Jews who they wanted freed, they chose the killer. The only reason the Romans ended up killing Jesus was becuase they did not want another Jewish revolt. So you cannot blame the Romans for such a horrific act. It is all the Jews.

This is not necessarily true, and it sounds a little too much like "Pontius Pilate's Authorized Version." While most accounts say that it was largely at the urging of the Jewish population that He was crucified, the Romans themselves did the beating and the crucifying. Furthermore, while you can say that the Romans were simply trying to avert another Jewish revolution, that does not wash their hands of all guilt. The INRI sign was a nice gesture though. Anyway, in short, it wasn't entirely "the Jews" fault, and, really, equating it with the entire people isn't fair either, and leads to unnecessary prejudice (yes, as opposed to necessary prejudice).

According to the most often accepted and much-simplified version of Christian teachings, I was under the impression that God had Jesus killed. :p Is that suicide or homicide?

Given that the proximate agent of the death of Christ was not God (the Father, I take it), it couldn't be called homicide or suicide. If you'd like to make fun of it, I suppose you could call it "conspiracy to" something, but of course He wouldn't exactly be a conspirator. I also have never heard this theory put the way you are putting it, and so contend that this is not the most often accepted version of Christian teachings. So there :p

To my best understanding, we all killed him, and God killed him too ofcourse.

I am rather fond of Anselm of Canterbury's theory. Christianity asserts that God is perfectly Just and perfectly Merciful. As He is Just, there must be satisfaction for sin. As He is Merciful, He supplied the means for that satisfaction. Of course, this is a truly simplified, "handbook-of-the-evangelizer" answer, but I could break out the Proslogion and go to work. Of course, this really isn't the thread for any of this... ;)

You know, I really hate that line of reasoning. It's not a job, it's a hobby, and it's no fun for anyone involved if He just does everything Himself. Think of it as a NES; is a moderator bad for not doing everybody's work for them just because he could?

Its actually a particularly stupid line of reasoning, given that the theology asserts that He did, in fact, "do it Himself" in the person of Christ, as Christ is both human and divine.

But poor Jews may be wealthy to other people. ;)

More or less everything you've said in the last couple pages has been offensive. You should probably stop before you get reported.

EDIT: I also refuse to get into an argument in this thread. If anyone substantially disagrees with me, take it up in a PM. And I realize most of this was in jest, I'm just tossing my two bits in.

Am I imagining it, or can excel highlight the cells used in equasions when you click on the cell concerned?

About God. He didn't do it himself really. As he sent a mortal. If he did it himself we would have done something flashy like burn the earth or part the seas. :p

About my stereotypical posts against Jews. Its all in good jest.

Answer: yes.

An how do i achieve this? I am trying to create a ruleset where most things are interlinked (like birds) but without it highlighting the boxes, im rapidly losing what stat is affecting what!

What, turning water into wine, healing the sick, and walking on water isn't flashy enough for you?

It just do it on the equation you've got there with the default excel settings. As for not loosing track I suggest you a) Draw a chart to help yourself b) aquire a better brain or c) used fixed cell references to keep things orderly.

Not quite sure if that was in english..

It doesn't highlight with the version I have, if it did I'd not have this problem.

It can do more than that. If you click inside the cell formula, it will highlight the cells used in the formula and color code them. But I prefer "tracing". in Excel 2003 go to tools > formula auditing and choose either "trace dependents" or "trace precedents". Arrows appear showing either the cells that contribute to the formula (precedents) or those cells that use that cell (dependents). Erase arrows does just that. I use these so frequently that I have all three buttons on my tool bar. If a cell value/formula uses a cell on another tab, that is shown too.

So if a player askes me how Culture is calculated, then I click on my culture score and then the "trace prededents" and a blue arrow shows me each cell that contributes to the culture score. The arrows are exceptionally helpful in finding errors.

Ooh those arrows are very useful.

Cheers Bird, now write that update! ;) I'm going to up with you till the wee hours (thinking another 4/5 hours from now) Will I see anything?

glad you like them. As far as the update, it is too early to tell yet.

1936: The revolution has begun. Allied NES forces, using a dimensional portal, overran the country of 'Luxembourg'. The new country of Nesland was declared...

IE, anybody want to have a scientific/political/troop leader named after them in my HOI2: Doomsday game? (its a silly experiment in modding the game, Luxembourg with germany's starting techs, 150 IC, and custom leaders). I may recruit random forumers anyway and let you know how this gets on :)

Also, I apologise for jointly causing a religious debate. But since potentially religiously-offensive material has already been posted, I will share my own belief: that religion is basically a human invention, and while there is wisdom to be found from it, it does not give an accurate picture of the 'truth'. Currently I'm leaning towards the view of a layered reality, everything interconnected with the original source at a subtle or not-so-subtle level, with the universe simultaneously existing as many different viewpoints while also being an indivisible whole. The overall goal of 'god' in this scenario is seemingly to investigate itself from as many different angles as possible.

Yep!

lol, viva la Nesland!

I'll be Aiken Drumn, Science Leader plz

You should have a Minister of Culture ;) As you don't, I'll take Minister of Security to silence all cultural dissenters!

I hope you will be under the watchful eye of Pikachu. The best damn minister of security ever.
