Just thought I would clear this up for those who do not know this:
The Romans never wanted Jesus killed, in fact they were trying to keep him alive by offering a known Jewish killer and Jesus and asking the Jews who they wanted freed, they chose the killer. The only reason the Romans ended up killing Jesus was becuase they did not want another Jewish revolt. So you cannot blame the Romans for such a horrific act. It is all the Jews.

According to the most often accepted and much-simplified version of Christian teachings, I was under the impression that God had Jesus killed.

You know, I really hate that line of reasoning. It's not a job, it's a hobby, and it's no fun for anyone involved if He just does everything Himself. Think of it as a NES; is a moderator bad for not doing everybody's work for them just because he could?
