Its actually a particularly stupid line of reasoning, given that the theology asserts that He did, in fact, "do it Himself" in the person of Christ, as Christ is both human and divine.
If he did it himself we would have done something flashy like burn the earth or part the seas.![]()
Also, I apologise for jointly causing a religious debate. But since potentially religiously-offensive material has already been posted, I will share my own belief: that religion is basically a human invention, and while there is wisdom to be found from it, it does not give an accurate picture of the 'truth'. Currently I'm leaning towards the view of a layered reality, everything interconnected with the original source at a subtle or not-so-subtle level, with the universe simultaneously existing as many different viewpoints while also being an indivisible whole. The overall goal of 'god' in this scenario is seemingly to investigate itself from as many different angles as possible.
Ach. You should really start shushing. While on the subject of parting seas. Doesn't God know Jews were never slaves in Egypt?

This or something similar, might be what das is referring to.You might be interested in some monotheistic forms of Hinduism, because I'm pretty sure I've read something very similar in a quote from some modern Hinduist philosopher (well, it's not so much about "self-investigation" as about experiencing everything that living beings could experience).

I need an honest opinion. Am I still a bad noob or am I getting better? rate 1 (what is a comp?) to 10 (I know what I am doing and how to do it... I just need to reread the rules again...) and a < or > to show... I really need to know! It is for my sanity!
