Being an organisational unit for the Roman army, I'd say.... the ones who have stuck to purely Roman systems of organisation

No, I meant how many NESes have used legions.

It's all a matter of terminology, really. Same thing with the EP vs. IC vs. Jack debate. They essentially mean the same thing.

Just throwing this idea out there, but would anyone like to have quarterly awards for best moderator(s)? :)
Reading through this gave me the general idea.

Hardly fair. I'd win every quarter.

Maybe Matrix would win once in a while.

Of course, between the three of us, we could ban whomever didn't vote for us...Make it real quiet around here.

Okay, in all seriousness... Probably not a good idea. It would depend on how it's done.

Weren't awards done at the end of 2007 once? I seem to remember that vaguely.

It would be a simple vote from all NESers on various caterogories. Maybe the caterogories can be: Best Moderator, Most Innovative Mod(And/or player), Best Storyist, Best New Idea(May be the same as Most Innovative), Best Player etc. It could possibly be a motivator for some and if people don't lash out at the results, then it would be benefical.

I'm a-workin, I'm a-workin! I've trying out a few new formats and a beginning date, so give it until the first of February. Mostly I'm trying to avoid the mistakes from last year.

I don't see the reason for awards other then to kiss the a** of the moderator thats running an NES you're in.

If that is what a player intends to do, then they shouldn't be playing, and the mod shouldn't necessarily be modding if he takes something from such a petty action as voting.

Yes, awards were done a year ago.

Can you give me a link?

The votes were done secretly last time round. No *snip* kissing involved. People gush about mods anyway.

I'd vote for Beej in everything, ever.. if only he became more hardcore. ;)

So I decided against the clutter and chatter of a 'Development Thread', final part of the proposed ruleset for my upcoming Plus Ultra: the DisNESIV experience along with the map and timeline can be found here.

Stat construction is begining, apply now whilst stocks last!

I think I will stick to the motherland, unless a major power remains untaken after the first wave of applications has come through :)

I will read over the ruleset in full, I've read bits and pieces and I'm impressed. I'm just worried as always with moderator workload :p

Sorry, but you're pretty much wrong here. I'll first point to last year, where despite having done everything wrong, I still kept it all to Thunderfall's standards considering the spam-levels. While there are a few categories such as "Best Mod" and "Best Update", the majority are centered around individual players. The intent of the project isn't to suck up or kiss behind, but rather to recognize the effort put forth by both mods and players.

Eh, I've automated a heck of a lot (part of what took so long), and although there are large amounts of data, most of it is invarient from year to year, and consists of lots of very small systems. Plus there are only 24 playable nations.

Basically I built around the model that it should be possible for the player to 'pull a Coolidge', and say "Yep everything is going fine, I do nothing new this turnset" and the mod could just iterate the dataset automatically.

Do we still have an alternative history thread going? Have had a few ideas on it, and not just the political and military aspects of history.
