who created the smilies?

i was just curious who created the smilies, i dont wanna ***** or spam them with ideas or crap.

i do have one question though - can it be made possible for the thumbs up and thumbs down to be chosen in the smilies list. for they only appear in the message icon thingy.

i realise they are not a smilie though, i hope an exception could be made

EDIT - why is the term for a female dog all ***** out? its a tv swear? and yes it effects my life so greatly, i have to ask

I think Fez-Monk made the smilies. He is always coming up with new ones to use in his post that I never seen before. Good ones at that!

The site uses an auto-censor, so those "not-nice" words are "bleeped out". It serves to enhance the CIVility of the site. If you have to think about what you are saying, to avoid tripping the censor, maybe you won't use those words so much, and/or maybe you will calm down before posting (assuming the intended post is a flame).

On the other hand, if you want to start a thread in OT about dog breeding, then you have to put up with seeing a lot of '*'s, or invent ways around it.

Since this thread is about smilies, I noticed the other day that there really isn't one for suspicion. I'm not sure what it should look like or do, but I sure missed not being able to use it.

Maybe this will get to the smilie creator and get him thinking...

I'm not sure, I think they're just kind of standard. If you go to most any forum you'll see them (or smilies a lot like them). Common smilies like and may differ in their colors, but are generally the same. There are also sites that have a variety of different smilies to choose from.

But didn't Hippo create this one? I don't know, maybe I'm confused.

Well I find that when you see this smiley then half the time you'll find a mention of banning in the post after it.
