Who do you think played the best Jack Ryan?

Harrison Ford was my favourite. Although The Hunt for Red October is my favourite movie.

To be perfectly honest -- after some serious thought, this actually surprises me -- I'd have to say that Alec Baldwin was the better Jack Ryan. Although I'd have to say that Harrison Ford is the better actor, that wasn't the question that was asked.

I voted for Alec Baldwin, but it was a close call. If Clear and Present Danger hadn't sucked so much, maybe Harrison Ford would have taken it, as I tought he was the better Jack Ryan in Patriot Games.

Ben Affleck was lightyears behind the two others (but he had the handycap of playing in the worst of all Jack Ryan movies....)

Anyone but Affleck. In my opinion there has never been a worse actor in the history of movies. I liked the story of "Sum of All Fears" but was ticked that they chose that no-talent @ss clown. I too like Red October so despite how much I dislike Alec, he's the best Ryan in my opinion.

I'm for Baldwin here, and I'll disagree w/ you and say that Baldwin is the better actor. Ford is a bit of a 1-trick pony. Granted, its an enjoyable trick.

Baldwin was more 'in character' with the Jack Ryan of the books, and the movie was excellent.
Ford is very talented actor but he was too old at the time and the movie wasn't that good (as was the book, definitely not one of the best)
Affleck sucks and the movie was very, very bad (Morgan Freeman barely saved it from disaster). It's too bad, the book had great movie potential.

Personally I just think he gets typecast now. And as (IIRC) the actor with the distinction of having the largest collective boxoffice take in history, it is indeed easy to see why.
