whoknows01 - C3C Training on Monarch - Conq/Dom

Great news, I will be able to play so Mach don't worry too much. I will be playing in a few minutes and posting the log.

turn 1 10 AD: Changed some production after building trebs to horsemans or swords. Moving troops
turn 2 30 AD: troop movement and again changed some production to gain more troops for a better war ;). Tlamlanalco.
turn 3 50 AD: continual of war prep. movement of forces and losing 21 gpt but feud in 2.
turn 4 70 AD: see two Korean settlers heading our way with one spear. Will wait for Feud and then attack.
turn 5 90 AD: Korea built city where I was going to. Set sci slider to 30% and chiv in 9.
turn 6 110 AD: Built marketplaces in core cities. Chiv in 8 and will be ready to go to war with Korea once we get these marketplaces, gpt, and knights. Huextola founded.
turn 7 130 AD: Same stuff going on but looks like Byzantines are preparing for war with Korea or Carthage???
turn 8 150 AD: Same but give Korea the boot, they declare war. So we go take their iron because we can.
turn 9 170 AD: troops moving in for war. Had 1 causalty of war (no deaths reported). Many horsemen are angry at the Koreans for attempting to attack us. Captured Nampo their iron source. Pugsem was burned to the ground (1 citizen).
turn 10 190 AD: barage Taejon with trebs. Captured Taejon.

I've got it. Will play a bit today but won't finish until Sunday.

Looks good so far. Ivory still needs to be connected. Two korean cities close by hold furs and spices (and horses). We will soon be a shining happy people

It does indeed look good. :king: I think we can disband those archers, and move our miscellaneous warriors & spears into cities that need flip supression. Right now they aren't doing anything. Who, do you use MapStat? If you haven't, you should check it out...

Also, yeah the ivory should be connected by now, but that won't slow us down any. Although wait until you try emperor, who -- luxuries get soo important...

I started on emperor friday with the Maya. No luxies at all, but the productive main land made it possible to produce enough military. Hadn't to alter my gameplay too much yet. Only a bit more aggressive and I don't build new cities in locations where they will eventually come under cultural pressure as long as I don't intend to raze/conquer those foreign cities soon.

Maybe this will change if I play with a less growth oriented civ.

I only made it through 3 turns. Lots of details to take care of.

Notes:
Korea is almost gone.
There is no AI to trade Tech with as they are all poor and stupid.
Distributing some units along our coastline as there are a few galley's about.
Unit losses have been low.
Most new builds are infrastructure (courts & libs).

Well I thought we would stop resarching at chivalry, build lots of units, and roll over 'em to domination. So unless we want to go for a different victory condition, we don't need to trade, and we don't need libs. Markets & some courts for infra, settlers out of our backwater cities to fill gaps, and military military military. Remember that education turns off our ToA, so avoid that. Where are we on the domination limit?

Or does the team want to change to a different victory condition? Personally, I'm happy with domination.

We could research the lower path to military tradition. Although I think we will have won before the first cavalry is at the front.

I agree. That's why I think we should turn off research -- we can use the cash to short-rush knights or upgrade horses, thus speeding our victory.

I do agree after Chivalry we should cut the science. We could however increase the lux slider 10% or so during wars.

Mach I used to have map stat but like I said before my hard drive had viruses and so I had to buy a new one. My dad is going to get around to fixing it soon but until then I am with this one and don't want to d/l anything in case of another attack. Good to see you guys and good to see how great we are doing.

OK, research off, libs out, units in, cash to upgrades.

Sorry, but building is in my blood.

Turn 0 – 210 AD
Entertainment down to zero.
Korea is in Anarchy.
MI kills spear, promotes to elite and takes settler.
Elite win to take Wonsan. No GL.
Horse kills spear in open an promotes to elite.
Pike in Seoul.
Horses take Pusan.
Horse kills sword and promotes to elite.
Moving workers in the general direction of the ivory.

Turn 1 – 230 AD
Many new builds. All geared towards infrastructure.
Attack and take Seoul. That was a tough nut.
We captured gems.

IBT: Volcano near Warwick spews.

Turn 2 – 250 AD
We take Ulsan (a place I have spent some time).
We found Tepetlaoxtoc

IBT: Chivalry is in and we start on Education.

Turn 3 – 260 AD
After taking input we switch from Education to a min run through the techs needed to get to Military Tradition.
We take P’Yougyang.
Found Chiconautla

Turn 4 – 270 AD
Found Zitpick
Elite win and GL in Hyangsan. Will rush a barracks and be building a knight army soon.
Take out sword and move trebs into position to kill off two more when they advance.
We now have six luxuries hooked up and will add ivory in a few more turns.

IBT: The Vikings demand currency. We tell ‘em to shove off. They declare.
Our Golden age comes to an end.

Turn 5 – 280 AD
Four swords, a warrior and an archer get treb’ed silly and then picked off.
Manp’o taken w/o a loss.
Just thinking, now that the Vikes are pissed at us we’ll have to guard against Zerks.

Turn 6 – 290 AD
Found Coyotepec

IBT: Nothing other than Cleo kicking us out for snooping.

Turn 7 – 300 AD
Razed a Korean city. We burnt the sign before I could catch the name.
Science turned back to zero and a few scientists hired in 1spt cities.

Turn 8 – 310 AD
Killed a sword and enslave a settler.
Two knights in the army and another will be loaded next turn.

Turn 9 – 320 AD
We take Inch’on
Moving forces up to clobber Egypt.

Turn 10 – 330 AD
We take Novgorod. I thought this was the Korean’s last city but they must have gotten a settler out.
Many units still have movement and are ready to beat Cleo’s brains in. I didn’t want to declare on my last turn.

I never saw hide nor hair of the Vikings. But that will change. Hopefully they will sail up the coast and get picked off by barb galleys. :)

We have:
28 Horses, 10 Pikes, 22 Knights, 1 Army, 12 MI's, 14 Trebs

I think this is more than enough to cut down the Egyptians in short order. Please don't drain our backyard of units such as a Zerk, horse, etc. or two could be a real pain.

Some cities have mild WW (<20%)

Ok, I got it. I'll be out of contact for a few days, starting probably tomorrow, but I can play today. This game shouldn't get back to me...

Since an English city didn't pop up, I'm assuming they have an island city. So I'm gonna make peace with them -- also with Korea, since I betcha they have an island city too. We're at 40% land, so all we have to do is take cities. How quickly can we win this? :hmm:

Preturn -- change some builds, primarily to make some settlers
Declare on Egypt
Take Hieracopolis, Pi-Ramesses

T1 (340AD) Take Alexandria
T2 (350AD) Take Byblos, Memphis, El-Amarna, Thebes
I abandon Thebes...it has the Great Lib, and I don't want to get Education...
T3 (360AD) Take Elephantine, Heliopolis
Make peace with Vikings straight up...we're not gonna need their cities to reach domination, I think.
Declare on Russians
(I) England declared war on Byz!
Our palace gets shrubbery.
T4 (370AD) Take Giza, Egypt still alive. :hmm:
Found Tequixquiac
T5 (380AD) Burn Vladivostok, take Moscow.
T6 (390AD) Found Jliotzingo
T7 (400AD) Take St. Petersburg (and the Great Wall)
Found Tlapanaloya
T8 (410AD) Take Yekaterinberg, Burn Rostov
Found Tultitlan, Ecatepec
I'm tired of WW, so I make peace with Russians, Koreans, and Egyptians
Declare on the Byzantines
T9 (420AD) zzz
T10 (430AD) Take Heraclea

We're at 75% pop and 59% area. There's a wall of jungle between us and the Byz, which is irritating -- we can't move our trebs forward. I got a force of workers together to punch a road through it north of Novogrod. There are two settlers out to grab gaps. I was very sloppy with the mm and the workers; I hope I made a good enough road net for our warlike gentlemen. I also misplaced the city that replaced Thebes, but that didn't hurt us any since it'll grab the land I missed when it expands. We have 50 knights. I've killed 4 or 5 Byz ancient cav, they must have some left. Lullaby, take us home!

Here's teh save.

Here's the front...
Who01_Byz_430.JPG

Shouldn't we go for space race instead? ;)

I'll do my best and hope this will be enough.

We are magnificient

Artemis seems a really brilliant choice for early warmongering. Greatly reduced flip propabilities, allows to build troops instead of culture/happiness, and, something I didn't see in the beginning, it speeds up the land fill through quick border expansion in the newly conquered cities, so you reach your 66% faster.

I have the save of the end of the last round, for anyone who is interested.

:band:

Great job everyone! Hey who, did you learn some stuff this game? I did, for instance...

I agree, I meant to congratulate you on that decision. I can't believe how powerful the ToA was for us.

When this game stared, I was a monarch player with poor warmongering skills. Now I'm an emperor player, with 3 emperor domination wins under my belt. Thanks guys!

Thanks alot guys and due to this SG and me playing alot more Civ, I have moved up to Emperor also. I'll start a new SG shortly.

Hey, this game would still be going on if ya'll hadn't directed me to start killing things. :)

I'm never much for this kind of domination victory as I'm quite conservative and will play for a slower steadier pace towards domination.

Anyway, I'm sure my ten turns was the linchpin to this entire operation and was glad to pull victory from the jaws of defeat. Not!
