WHoward's Pick 'N' Mix Mods

William, FYI I think there's another bug to do with either the DLL or the City Limits Expansion mod: I've gotten a long list of notifications on the right side of the screen that can't be clicked away/dismissed and all of them have to do with this or that city expanding its borders. I know you mentioned there is still work to be done on the City Limits Expansion mod, so perhaps that could be added to it.

It's been like that since day one. If you play with months, you'll need to manually edit the SummaryBar.xml file(s) to push the stack to the left.

I was unaware of this, thanks for the tip.

I've opened up the SummarBar.xml files and found the relevant line:

<Stack Anchor="R,T" Offset="300,6" Padding="10" StackGrowth="Left" ID="SummaryStack"/>

Question is: Do I change the Offset or Padding?

Un-dismissable notifications have been around since before BNW - even in un-modded games and they seem to have gotten worse recently. You can also now get the Unit Panel out of sync (it shows the unit before the selected one) . It seems to be related to the old popup dialog bug, as you can usually fix them either be switching in/out of SV mode or the tech tree, and seem to be related to brining up pop-ups in quick succession. It seems to have gotten worse now you do anything between turns in the City View screen etc (which seems to be related to the new multi-player "fixes")

The way the tile selection opens probably highlights these issues, especially if you click too quickly.

As I get these effects in the base game playing with no mods, it's not on my list of things to investigate.

Thanks AndreP!

I'm assuming 300 is the X axis value from the left of the screen...so lowering this value should push it left. I'll give it a try.

Why not just read the comment on the line above?????

Code:
<!-- If the summaries overlay the Turn/Date/Help/Menu buttons, increase 300 below to shift the summaries further left -->

OK - I'd not seen it before now, but it is no biggie - more of a nuisance than anything - and I'll try some of the things you suggest to see if that can help.

Still no go I'm afraid, unless I screwed up the edit. Still doesn't seem to pull up the BNW specialists. It is a such a fun mod, but will have to wait for it to be fixed (hard to win culture game with no culture specialists lol).

It's your edit ;)

I'll try and upload a corrected version later

I ran into a situation where I was notified that a city had border expansion, except that there were no "free" choices, and many unfree ones. I left the city screen ended my turn and the next turn had the same notification with the same result. After this repeated for a few more turns, I bought the cheapest plot and the system "fixed" itself; future expansions at that city had "free" plots to choose from.

This happens when the game calculates that the cheapest expansion tile (usually a non-resource "flat" one) is in a ring where the city could expand to but you can't buy in (typically a tile in ring 4) - it's a relatively rare case, usually happens late game, and the tile will only cost you 15 gold, so not worth the effort to "fix". If you don't have 15gold, either sell a horse to a neighbour, or just ignore the expansion notifications until you have saved it!

Hi WHoward69,

Regarding City Expansion mod, I get the usual alert of a city expanding and I need to select a tile but all the marked tile are for 150 gold and the rest for 195 gold, on the upper left corner of the city screen the culture hexagon is full and it says 1 turn for expansion, and it repeat itself every turn till I buy one for 150 gold.

Attached screen captures if it helps.

@EDIT - Game speed:Marathon, never repeated itself for 200 turns, I also got once: "May purchase with religion" while I only accumulated 150 Faith. Don't know if it's related to subject at all.

same for me, no free tile, but only all 50 and some 75...

I was playing Standard/Small and it was around 500 BC when it happened--on a coastal city with sharing land borders with a rival civ.

I am thinking that with the new raze major city mod, it could be impossible to win a domination victory if another civilization's capitol was razed. Domination now requires you to control all other capitols. Am I correct?

Which is really weird as the base cost for a tile on standard speed should be 50gold, so a tile should never cost more than about 15 to 30 gold. There is a known problem if the cheapest tile is in ring 4 and you can still claim a tile in ring 3 (usually happens if you have a no-resource flat plains/desert tile in ring 4, and the only available ring 3 tile is a mountain). I just find it very odd that the cost is so high.

Dunno, only added the ability to raze any city by common request. You can mod the micro-mod if it's an issue - make it so you can raise CS and Indonesia's special cities but leave capitals as un-razable

Edit: You have to be in control of all the capitals of all major civs still alive (excluding those held by City States) - so if you raze a capital you will also have to eradicate that major civ

I play with DLL ver 20 and most of the mods that require the DLL and some more, speed marathon, I've encountered two strange things,

one, I've mentioned earlier, but now I know when it happens, I get the message "may purchase with faith" when I only have 150 faith, but in the previous round I've used faith to by something and didn't get the message earlier, if I get the message on time(600+ faith), it doesn't repeat in an erroneous way.

@Edit - The second, on completion of astronomy Compass and starting to research Navigation Astronomy, whilst researching I got suddenly two spies(Espionage race), later when completing NavigationAstronomy I entered Renaissance and didn't get any spy or any message regarding espionage. Haven't made it to Industrial yet.

@Edit - Unit promotion popup, I get it sometimes two turns after the actual battle, very much like the 'may purchase with faith'. I'll try next game without any of the diary and message (if any) related mods from the pick&mix to see if it's related to them.
