Are there any decent geniuses apart from Heath ledger in the new batman Movie that anyone knows about? I'm getting a bit irritated at the sheer stupidity of some genuises.

Sarah Connor Cronicles:

Gaping plot holes, robots are ********. If I was a robot in the future, first thing I'd do is clear up all the rubble. Kill baby, end of story

Star Wars:

Self explanatory

Star Trek:

They usually die in some unlikely event caused by the Crew of the Protagonist

The Matrix:

Not really an evil genius, and seeing as how neither he or the system admin can beat each other, it's pretty lame.

Generic film with evil genuis:

Evil genuis dies in some unlikely event that has less than <1% chance of happening

Q

*easy button*

SCC: garbage, doesn't count.
SW: evil masterminds seemed to do well, I mean Palpatine was in power for something like 15 years. That's not Mugabe good, but that's historically not bad. Vader wasn't "purely" evil and had family issues clouding his judgment.

ST: the Borg are still alive and kicking, most "evil geniuses" were headstrong idiots with a plan. Locutus.. I forget how that went down.

The Matrix: the guy wasn't a genius, he was just narcissistic and a poor team player.

Generic films: pap, why bother addressing them.

There are films with actual evil geniuses that don't have stupid endings, but they're usually serious dramas.

Yeah, but you have to remember that the plot of the first 3 films were, more or less crap in regard to the direction the evil geniuses were taking. Death star, rinse and repeat. ( And Darth vader was never slated to be luke's father )

At least the last few films had a decent plot in terms of how it was going to go about ( Though knowing how it would end killed a bit of it for me )

I'm pretty sure Heath Ledger fits into your last catagory.

:D

So I don’t get another warning for spam ( ;) ) I do love the scene in Austin Powers, when Dr Evils son is telling him to just shoot Austin. "I have a gun in my room" "He will just escape!". :D

Too bad Dr. Evil has a severe case of ISH ( Incompetent Stupid Henchmen )

So that they'll be able to be defeated by equally ******** heroes. :)

Most of them are above all evil and not rational or intelligent enough to qualify as "genius".
Having astupid henchmen means you hire people for jobs they can't get done, and thereforre you are not a genius.
Only very few are the genuine article, but even then they are often hindered by character flaws like narcissm or arrogance which makes them underestimate their enemies.
Hannibal Lecter comes to mind.

So the hero can be molded to fit a cultural identity instead of being perfect. The villain is only allowed to exploit a certain set of the hero's traits, and the villain's failure will reinforce the cultural identity.

I'de say Palpatine counts as one of the greatest evil geniuses ever, also the Goa'uld Baal from Stargate Sg-1 was extremely smart, iirc he was never defeated completely defeated in the series. Also Anubis did quite well in the same series, he was only beaten because Oma attacked him. The Wraith Michael in Stargate Atlantis also proved to be quite devious and without hugely stupid weaknesses.

He was very clever until he got his head stuck on the end of that pike.

And Vir waving at him was one of the best scenes of the season, but Morden can't be an evil genius. He's just henchman and arguably brainwashed.

Actually, I think there are no geniuses in film and television writing, (mostly retards, yeah I said it) so how could the characters be genius?
