If Switch is refering to me, i apologize. I do not tend to offend, but I have noticed in my clacs, diffeqs, fluid mechanics, statics, dynamics, material mechanics, thermodynamics, physics, and chemistries, they are almost entirely euro-mideast-american theorms and experiments. The chinese are very industrious and have made so amazing structures such as the great wall and (one of my favorite buildings) the Temple of Heaven. But they lack the great achievements on the scale of the Kaula-Lumpuer towers, The John Hanncock tower, the colosium of rome, the eiffel tower, the worlds first "modern" skyscraper located here in cincinnati, the dome of florence, the concrete viaduct on the malaig line in scotland, the turtle, the cannon (which used chinese gunpowder), the english trebuchet, arabian telescopes (if i recall correctly), the portugese compass, the turbine, the jet engine, the rocket engine, the english steam engine, and the early russian space program (their key scientist died) . early suspention bridges are not engineering excelence. to build such a bridge requires little to no undstanding of moments, truss force distribution, reactions, stresses, torques, or natural frequencies.
why would china need such inventions? the europeans spend much of the time fighting and needed better weapons. the chinese were peaceful and had no need to find better ways to blow their neighbors apart.
china is not to be measured by western standards. by are standards, they fail; by their standards, we fail. in our own ways, we each do quite well. And yes, I am very well educated. 99th percentile on my standerized tests. I attend my first choice institution, with plenty of scholarships, and have done quite well in my course work. I plan to attend grad school soon. Your hypothesis of my education, particularly on this subject (eng. & sci), is incorrect.
