..size doesnt matter, its how you use it?

Well written posts are often too short;
Poorly written posts are always too long.

When there's a discussion and you want to make 'a good point' (i.e. convince as many people as much as you can), in real life the trick is to speak as much as possible. Thus you're more heard and people will remember more about what you said.

I think that on a forum this works contradictorily. Here, when you want to make a point, it's necessary to say what you want to say in as less words as possible. The more words you use, the more your point will blur. :crazyeye: I tend to read faster and faster when I see I have so much to read as well. And I also tend to read smaller posts more closely than long posts, for the same reason.

Final point: use decoration, like bold, italic, or smilies. :) That makes a text more easy to read.

But I'm especially interested what others think about the first two paragraphs. ;)

I agree 100%
That is why I never go into a lot of the debateish threads. They just get to many huge posts that I wont read.

How old is this post, still interesting to read, although Fred might not forgive me for reading his longest post ever:eek: , I have work in the morning, I'll save it for a lazy afternoon.

I don't post well in long hand, so I tend to try and keep it short, my memory is so short term though that I often end up repeating myself even in those.

I never will be the best or most concise or consistently interesting long winded poster, I only hope I made someone listen at some point. If not I can always throw in some joke or some spam, hey we can't all be gifted speech writers. But I do apreciate the long winded people who carry it off.

If you don't like reading long winded posts, then stick to the funny posts and the more easily understood banality, whatever keeps you interested.

As a footnote though those who post good and well written long winded posts recieve the most praise. Saying something concise is fine, but if you want to get noticed by me at least make it interesting relevant and full of good content. 10 Chars doesn't do it for anyone.

Write them well and I will read them, long or short.

Good threads die hard. And this one just won't die at all.

That's why I just write one liners! By the time one discovers that my post is poorly written, they have already read it!

why won't it die? Matrix keeps it in his sig. The thread can be reborn from any post Matrix signs his name to.

Because its beyond a game now.

Careful it doesnt get spam locked though.

I never read long posts unless it is an interesting topic to me, and really wont if its typed by an egit.
