or...WHY THE BCS SYSTEM STINKS!

imagine the scenario

WVU loses to Conn
Tenn wins out
Mizzou beats kansas but loses to okie
USC wins out
Oregon loses out

*=wins conference
~= didnt play in conference championship

OSU 11-1 *~
Kansas 12-1~
WVU 11-2
Mizzou 11-2
Okie 11-2 *
Georgia 11-2~
LSU 10-3
USC 10-2 *~

now this is where it gets murky for me

who wins the acc if va tech wins out?
what about the big east if wvu loses?

just looking at that though

does 12-1 kansas go to the NC despite not playing their conference championship?
does 2 loss okie go ahead of USC? and why not a 2 loss georgia, if only for the fact that they didnt play their championship game

wow that's a specific thread...in all sports there is a possibility that teams will get with the same record at the end of the season.

NKVD, but who gets the Championship? Usually it is decided in a playoff, but in college football...the BCS "system" decides who plays where.

If V-Tech beats Virginia, they play BC in the ACC Championship.

Connecticut WINS the Big East if they beat WVU today. It's incredible, I know.

We need this to happen, so Ohio State plays in the title game. In that scenario, they'll prob. play Kansas.

If UCONN wins, they win the big east title, Va Tech plays BC in the ACC title game.

Then, we get a playoff series in 5 years :)

a 1 loss kansas would be terrible though. it'd be like a repeat of oklahoma in 2003.

LSU takes down Tennessee, Pitt downs WVU, OU knocks off Mizzou again. What's left? Ohio State v. LSU for the national championship... Mayhem ensues. Playoff is announced.

A lot more than that needs to happen for LSU to get another shot, actually no. There is no way that LSU will have another shot at the title this year. With Kansas and Ohio State both done playing and having only 1-loss, they don't have a chance.

LSU with 2 losses would probably get a chance before a 1-loss Kansas team. Hawaii is undefeated, but people know what they are; the same applies to Kansas. Had they been able to beat Mizzou and then beat Oklahoma in the big 12 championship, they would have earned respect with their undefeated record. But they didn't so they are an afterthought.

Actually, it will be mayhem to see who plays Ohio St if both Mizzou and WVU spit the bit this week. Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, USC and Va. Tech probably have a better shot than Kansas right now. Voters in the polls have a way of understanding how things will work out, and vote accordingly. Kansas will get passed by at least one of the 2 loss teams that win their conference championship game.

No way USC & Georgia get into the NCG without winning their conference...same with Kansas. We went through this with Nebraska, I thought there was a rule about it now?

How exactly does SC not win its conference in this particular scenario?
