Will there be a nuclear war?

Im a great believer in the assured destruction of the Earth being a factor in preventing them ever being used, which is why I propose we make weapons that are so powerfull they don't even leave a hope of the continued survival of humanity, I've noticed people mistakenly believe that humanity may survive a global nuclear holocaust no matter how unlikely that is.

Out civilization will go through a dark age, but humans as a Species can survive a strateigic nuclear exchange between the major powers of the world. We just don't have enough firepower to ensure the total obliteration of the entire population of target cities, the global population will be reduced to the mid-millions but it will stabilize. Within twenty years of the engagement simple industry can begin to emmerge.

If a nuclear war occurs we can all retreat to the underground bases. There we will choose the most fit of the human species, and have them reproduce. I suggest a ratio of 10 women to 1 man....oh yes...HEIL!!

I don't know if there will be one.

But if there will be, give me a heads up, I want to go out with a bang, literally.;) :mischief:

I'm going to say "no," there wont be a full-blown nuclear war like we thing of it, with MAD, the extermination of mankind, etc etc. This is why: as long as there is the determination of man to avoid war, restraint will always be excercized. THats kind of a paraphrase of what Krushchev said ( i think it was him) about the Cuban Missle Crisis, in an interview years later.

Mainly as his excuse to keep piling up arms.

he's still right, though. I mean, if you ran into some guy at the mall ( i mean literally ran into him) and you two were both angry, in each other's face with guns, but nethier of you really wanted to die/kill the other person, youre not going to, no matter how much it may seem ready to happen

unless that person has "nothing to lose" and doesnt care..

then what he shoots me?!? that scenario doesnt really work:mischief:

for example

i know people who will do some agressive things for petty reasons..

Altercations between two armed people have many times lead to shootings, thus ultimately proving my point.

Who's to say that nuclear weapons will never come under the control of some wacko who DOES want to see the anhilation of humanity?

That would be me when in a lousy mood.

Fortunately there's Civ in all its incarnations. I always keep a save file handy for when I need to kill several billions in order to make myself feel better. :satan:

You may be joking, but it seems to me that world leaders fancy viewing the world as their own personal game of Civ.
