Will using nukes still permanently destroy all diplomatic relations?

NPT should give uranium to players without nukes so they can build nuclear reactors.

Not sure what'd happen if you then built nukes, tho. Or a GDR. :)

I really hope that they use the same system from BtS in Civ V.

Pfft. I hope I can leave the UN if I feel like it. Or at least make it so I can break a treaty signed at anytime at a happiness/diplo penalty so I'm not stuck with NPT until the next time it rolls around and is put up for a vote.

What about the whole "You're guaranteed a City-State ally if you liberate them"? What if you happen to liberate a lot of City-States and you use nukes? Is that whole thing a lie then?

^ More political derailment... Obviously civilian casualties are irrelevant in civ games except how much production or science you're getting.

Not when it comes to rival leaders'/civs' reactions. My point was that dropping nuclear bombs on cities should always carry penalties.

My apologies. I thought you were someone trying to make this into politics or cultural flame war again. But I wish someone would answer my question though because I'd really like to know.

Quickly, someone make an OT thread!
Back on topic- I think nukes were underpowered in Civ 4, so I think they should give a warning to a player who was about to be nuked so her can respond. They shouldn't hit until the other player or AI ends their turn.

Then the relations between and your allied City-States will degraded greatly if you use a nuke on anyone. They might go court other Civs. Unless, maybe, if that C-S is militaristic. I don't think ally means you're allied forever.

No, but I keep hearing the statement from video presentations of the presenter saying "You're guaranteed a vote in the UN by liberated City-States" or "Guaranteed an Ally...".

Doubt it. With the new resource system they can't prohibit nukes, IMHO. This would change a lot of things in later gameplay (like focus towards GDR, ability to prevent uranium-rich civilizations from nukes, etc.).

Moreover, from the civilopedia screenshots, there were no mention about any UN votes over than diplo victory.

Yeah, it seems the UN's role has been reduced dramatically. This isn't necessarily a bad thing (diplomacy between civs should determine actual policies), but it is a shame that it reduces its role to a victory condition (that being said, Apollo Program and Utopia Project are also linked to victory conditions, so this seems to be the new thing).

No, using nukes will not destroy relations will all the civs in the world. In fact, there isn't even a diplo penalty for specifically using nukes, except for the civ you used it against.

Edit: just realized I necroed a thread from 2010
