I think the Neusch has had a good run, so I don't mind if it dies. On the other hand, if you ask me, people are thinking about it in the wrong way. I hear a lot of people saying "I don't build castles, so it's not worth it," or some variation of that line. Forget about the word "castle." Imagine that there was a wonder that gave you +6 gold, +4 culture, +2 happiness and access to a unique building that is +1 happiness, +3 gold, +2 culture, and bonus defense/city hp with no maintenence and the bargain price of 160 hammers. The point is that the Neusch makes castles worth it; it doesn't really matter whether you generally build castles. Forget about your old notions of a "castle."
NC isn't bad, but all others from the actual list are better imo. The main reason is the late appearance of this wonder. At that point, this wonder can only raise your stats by <1 %. Is this really worth it? Is this really worth to build so much castles just for these little boosts? You rarely need everything at the same time. For science games, you want science. For gold, just build banks and golden ages. For culture, build powerful buildings or wonders related to culture. For domination? You want to DOMINATE. Not defend yourself.
Personnally i'm surprised that this wonder made this far away. It proves that most players rarely focus entirely on a single objective and put all his money in it.
Can someone remind me why the hell notre dame is still in this list?
Colosseums/Circus Maximus are much better than this.
